Jeff State 2011 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

any Jeff State Fall 2011 hopefuls out there??

I am taking the TEAS V Wednesday, so then I will know how many points I have!!! :)

Do we need to be CPR certified before orrientation?

Do ya'll know if the immunizations are covered by most insurances?

I called my insurance company today (UHC) for that very reason and they said that shots are covered if I can get them done at an in network doctor's office. Also, if you don't have to meet with the doctor then there's no copay since the copay is generally picked up because of the doctor's fee. They are covering shots and titers.

Not covered by most insuramces I went to primed today. Tb test was $15 and varicella tiger was $63

Just called my insurance provider (BC/BS). They do cover the immunizations. I then called my doctor to see if they had all of them. They do not have the MMR or chicken pox vaccine since those are typically pediatric vaccinations and they do not do pediatrics. So now I'm trying to find a new doctor that has all the vaccines. I would like to get them all done at the same time (minus the flu shot because I get it free at work) along with the physical. Does anyone know if you can do all of them at once?

I called up at the fire station and they said the class is full but you can take it online then go on Saturday to do the skills even if it's full is that the same thing?

@Paige: Yes, just make sure you sign up for the BLS and NOT heartsaver. It will say BLS for Healthcare Providers: Part One. You print off the certificate and take it up to the Fire Dept, and you show your skills and you will be out of there within 10 minutes. I just had to show compressions and Bag mask. Here's the site: http://www.onlineaha.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=main.courseCatalog. Didn't know if they gave you the link.

@BamaRN: I would call a doc in the box place, like Middle Creek in McCalla and ask. They deal with pt.s of all ages, so they should have it in stock. I got my TB and Hep B's there. Ask about the MMR and Varicella (They should though).

Thought I only got into lpn but turns out I got in rn at Jefferson campus I am beyond excited :)

here is the response i received from head of nursing regarding liability ins.

no, your liability insurance will be through jeff state. you will pay a one-time fee of $15. we will give you more info on that at orientation.

Ok great. Thanks tvmoore5

Classes are generally on mon/wed...this semester classes have been on mon/tues and for the fall classes are on tue/thur.

The calculations test isnt all that bad, the calculate w/confidence 5th edition is what we used as well and for the n/w program passing the calc test at 90% does not apply until 2nd semester before u start clinicals. U will still have calc tests 1st semester but it isn't pass/fail but u will want to make good grades because they r averaged into your grade. Study study study I can't stress how important it is to study because the tests are not like tests that u are used to taking the format is completely different and u have to understand the material. The teacher u will have for first semester is excellent she is wonderful and extremely helpful love her to pieces!! Once clinicals start u will really enjoy class they are fun and helps u learn and u put into practice what u r taught in class/lab.

Eri. Test

What is the Eri test?
