Jeff State 2011 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

any Jeff State Fall 2011 hopefuls out there??

I am taking the TEAS V Wednesday, so then I will know how many points I have!!! :)

hey Teaton... i've heard a little about it..not sure which ones we have to take

We had to have the NMR or titer to check immunity. I've had two mmr's so I should be good. Then varicella (chicken pox) or proof of immunity, hep b (there are 3) or the titer if it had been a while like me, and the tb test I think that is it. I was just letting y'all know b/c it took some work getting my shot record. Come to find out my dr did not have my shot record so I had to go to my high school and get them to search for it. I have been out of there for 10 years! I was panicking trying to locate everything but I found it!

I found my shot record at my high school also. But it says I only had 1 MMR ( I was born in 1967 and been out of high school for over 20 years so it has been a while lol) So I guess I will have to get another one. I had the chicken pox when I was in 7th grade but I have not had the shot. I have priced some of the blood titers and some are more than the actual vaccine. If that's the case I think I will just take the vaccine. I have already started my hep b vaccine and go back the 27th of this month for my second injection. And I know I will have to do a TB test. But planning to take care of all that soon!

I still haven't received the package that has all of the info...and I really wish they would hurry. I have to get my Hep B second dose on the 8th or I have to start all over, but I was really wanting the form from the school so they can fill it out for me while I am getting that taken care of. I don't want to pay another $30 copay. Does anyone know if we have to have a physical as well? If it doesn't come in, I wonder if I can just get the doctor to print a piece of paper saying what all was done. There's a 3-4 hour waiting period at this office, and I don't want to have to go back lol. It took them 45 minutes to check my TB results.

I don't know if I've had the Varicella. I wonder if I can get my records from the DOH?

Also, go to http://www.scrubsandbeyond.com and take a look. They have some nursing student stuff. I bought a nursing kit for about 70 dollars. That's supposedly a good deal. (I guess)

The compression stockings are a lifesaver (used them for CNA clinicals), and they aren super cheap on this site. Every where I've looked locally sells them for 40 dollars and up

@ Bear'smommy I am pretty sure there is a physical form that has to filled out. I think most all nursing programs require one. Did they give you a piece of paper stating that you received your hep b vaccine? I went to the Shelby health dept. and they gave me a form stating the date and what vaccine I received. So I hope that is ok to turn in for proof. I will have to check the web site out that you posted. It sound great!! Oh and I have still not received a packet or email either.

Does anyone know the advantage or disadvantage of titers and vaccines? And which is required by Jeff State. I don't know much about titers.. Just looking for some insight.

Also, i've never had chicken pox so would i need to get a vaccine for that one? Thanks.

I will be starting the night and weekend program this fall. I really wanted to get a jump start on getting everything in order but i'm not sure what all I need. I'm still waiting on the packet we are suppose to be getting in the mail. I know we have to have the CPR class and I will be taking it this Saturday. Does anyone know for sure what else we need?

to bamarn student... i'm not sure.. i know we will need vaccinations or titers.. just not sure which ones..

@teejazzy a titer detects if you had had the vaccine or if you actually had the illness. If you have never had the chicken pox then you would have to have the vaccine since a titer would just show that you have no immunity to the illness. My daughter went to go get her titer for the chicken pox done this afternoon since she had it as a child. I had it when I was in the 7th grade and so I will have to get a titer also to prove that I have immunity to it.

has anyone received their email or packet yet? As of this evening I have received neither......

thanks busymom.... did you get your letter in the mail today from jeff state?
