I will go ahead and start this post for people applying to Jeff State Nursing Program Fall 2010. I know there are people out there with questions...I know I have a ton myself...I guess we can start with the amounts of points people are applying with with what classes??This should give us an idea of maybe where the cutoff will be...it was like 186 for Summer 2010!
Yes, my friend got her phone call yesterday. She has accepted her position in the program. And you are right firedance....it takes some time to make that many calls. I just feel like my phone call isn't coming. We can't all get in, I knew that when I applied. We shall see what tomorrow brings......
I am also hoping to get in for the spring, I'm taking micro as well so as long as I get an A I should be fine. My points were 184 I'm still holding out for a miracle although i know im probably gonna miss the cutoff by a couple of points but like u said we can't all get in, congrats to all who did get in. Hopefully better news tomorrow.....
Micro was hard to me, but other than A & P I didn't have the science background. So I did OK (made a B) considering the fact that I was behind the curve most of the semester. I'm not sure I will apply again in the spring at Jeff State. If I apply I may try elsewhere....or multiple schools. Can't hurt to expand the possibilities. Good Luck MissApril!!
Boy did I have a weird way of finding out I got in...I actually called the director of the nursing program at Jeff St. to tell her that I thought for sure we would have found out if we got in by now. I told her that I had already moved and my address had changed. She said hang on and let me look you up. She asked for my name, program I applied for, and points. I told her everything and that I had 200 points and she said you should be right up top. She said oh there ya are and asked me if I wanted to accept a spot in the full time day program at Shelby. This was actually like Wednesday at 2 o'clock. She said that orientation is July 19 from 10-12 in the Health Science Building. Is that the same time for full time and part time or is part time's a different time? I also asked her if the cutoff was much higher than the last few semesters and she said no. So I am assuming that the cutoff is no higher than 188. Who knows. Congrats to everyone who got in and everyone that will get in! She also said that you will get a letter in a week or so but they are running behind. It was an interesting and unexpected way to find out haha...Also I believe you can look at the schedule for nursing classes in the fall if you are enrolled at Jeff St. to see what your schedule is going to look like...It looks like Shelby full time will be NUR102- Mon. 9-12 and 1-3 and the lab and clinicals will be on Thurs or Fri, NUR103- Tues 9-12, and NUR104- Wed 9-12...everyone get pumped up!..BTW are there any other guys on here going into the program or am I a man in a woman's world?

Not a GUY in our class!! Gasp!!
Statistically, I can't imagine you'd be the only guy. Perhaps you're just the only guy that has found this board. Congratulations on getting in!
Should we all wear an "allnurses" sticker or something in orientation so we can find each other?
I think your post contains a wealth of information on how calls are going. Personally, I can't imagine being on their end of things. I know one person that had no idea they had gotten in until I called and they checked voice mail on another phone (that they never check) and found a message. Called into the office and there it was.
I'm glad I'm not on the NS's end of things right now. It's not like they can just call and say "congratulations, orientation at 10 on the 19th" and get away with it - the person on the other end is bound to say something else in the conversation. I imagine that there is ear bleeding and things that happen around 4 p.m. in their office. Ugh. Someone needs to take chocolate to them at 10 - a LOT of it.
Just got my phone call......I WAS ACCEPTED!!!!!!! I was told that everyone with 184 and above were accepted. I applied for the night and weekend so my orientation is the same day but it's at 5:00pm she is going to possibly check to see if I could switch to day program. I am sooooooo excited and happy right now!!!!! She also told me they have a lot of phone calls to make and everyone has a list to call.

I don't know about being finished. Do you know how long it takes to talk to that many people, play phone tag, etc.? Also, keep in mind this isn't all they're doing in their day. I wouldn't give up hope yet.
