Jeff Davis-Brewton

is anyone familiar with jefferson davis community college in brewton? i've applied and am awaiting my answer which should come by late october. wish me luck!!

My score was 147. My eyes are still swollen...

I only know one person that got in and she had a 180.

Long day - I'm going to bed...sleep well. Tomorrow will be better.

I did not get in either...I have not read the letter but my hubby called yesterday to tell me that the letter had arrived. I am disappointed and not sure where to go from here. But everyone keep your heads up.

Man, the scores must have been really high! I thought 140-ish might be good because of the girl last semestr with the 138 who made the waiting list. Well, we'll just have to keep trying.

I'm so sorry everyone! I wish I could trade places with any of you. I did apply to JDCC and got an acceptance letter, but I won't be going there. I would give it to any of you in a second if I could! My score was 168 this time around. I finished Micro with an A and it gave me 30 more points. This is the 3rd time that I applied at JDCC though and I've gotten closer and closer as time went on. Don't give up you guys! I know both of the other times that I didn't get in I was so disappointed. But looking back I know it wasn't meant to be at that time. Now I've chosen to not even go to JD and this is the one time that I actually did get accepted. I'm going to PJC starting in January. I chose it due to location and the fact that they offer stafford loans and JD doesn't and I need those to get by. Please don't give up!! Your dreams are right around the corner waiting for you. It just may take a little longer to get there.

Good luck to all of you!

I bet they have more applicants this time around. It seems like everybody is flooding to nursing these days. Even PJC is already full for next fall and filling up for spring 2011...it's crazy!

I started jd this semster. It is a good program. I considered pjc because I live in Pensacola. Decided on Jefferson Davis because of the great things I heard about it and their nclex pass rate.

Jefferson Davis is a long drive but worth it. We have created car pool teams that make it easier And we study along the way. I know that those of you who did not get in this semester are discouraged nut it may be a blessing. The second semester is the hardest. 13 hours of core classes. It has the highest fail rate of all the semesters. If you start the rn program in January the hardest semester will fall in the summer which is a short semester. A lot of people end up spliting the classes in order to pass. So they end up a semester behind anyway. Starting in august allows the hard semester to fall during a regular length semester. Still tough but manageable. So don't get too discouraged. Not getting in this time may have Increased your chances of success in the course. Good luck

Please excuse my grammar. I am typing on my phone

thank you for the encouraging words, sniper. i know for sure that i was very disappointed to not get in for january...but as i have been told, "everything happens for a reason". i hope that all of my friends here (presnall, tabacue, et al) continue to push forward, either at jdcc or somewhere else. :loveya:

After a period of disappointment I have rejuvenated my determination and let it go.

I am finishing out this semester with all A's. I am proud of the fact that I am exempt from the final in A&P since I already have an A!

I am taking Micro and A&P II in Spring. If I make A's in those classes I will have 188 points to get into the nursing college next Fall.

Are you guys still hanging in there? What did you decide and where are you going?

I haven't decided. My ultimate goal is to get at least a Masters in Pyschology so I am seriously thinking about finishing up my AA (I only have Algebra and Stat left) in Psychology and going on to get my Bachelors. I have thought about getting my BSN and then my Masters in Psych, but all very confusing....limited $$$. THe problem is that I would make more with an AS in Nursing than a BS in Psych. It is not all about the money, but I have 3 kids that I have to support. I don't want to be in school forever, ya know.

Good luck...let's all keep in touch!

when any of you get into the Jefferson Davis nursing program, send me a PM and I will give you some pointers that will help you be successful in the first semester.

Thanks sniper -- will do!

What all classes do you get "points" for? Is it just science? What about social science & math? I hope so.

Thanks.
