Well I applied again to JCCC. Its been a year since my last Application and well see how I do this year. I made it to 10th on the waiting list and wouldnt you believe that they made it to #9. Well we'll see how it goes this year...
Thanks 'Tember' for the well-wishes :).
Thank you so much, John, for the advice on the interview (if I haven't said it already--even if I had thank you again!). My interview was "OK". The question that got me was how I would explain incomplete work at the end of a shift to my supervisor. I said I'd explain the events that occurred to cause work to be unfinished, but felt like it sounded like a cop out answer. Truthfully, I have to do this all the time at my current job and it is a matter of explaining exactly which resident (I work at a girls shelter) went crazy and who ran away and how many police reports we had to fill out.
Ahh, good times.
Anyway, I don't have especially good feelings about the interview, if for no other reason than I haven't been interviewed in a very long time and I know I'm naturally not the super-confident bubbly give all the right answers with a smile type. Then again, I would hope they look at the content of the answers more than the delivery!
I'm rambling...the interview fell right in the middle of my sleep cycle, and I'm fairly anxious about the results, so brevity is not a current virtue.

I am sure you did just fine. Yea I answered that one with the typical." oh well if I wasnt complete then if I couldnt hand it off then I would simply stay untill it was completed."
Owell let me know if you hear anything either way.
Thanks for the update.Did you apply to any other nursing programs?
I intended to apply for the LPN program as well, but due to the kids and then me having what had to be the worst cold virus in the history of the world (or at least close) for 2 weeks straight I missed today's deadline. I also missed the scholarship deadline. Oy...but it's OK. If I don't get into the RN program at JCCC this fall I'll apply at KCKCC for the spring, and possibly the part time LPN.
I've learned that planning to far ahead is never a good idea...life always steps in!

FYI>>>>>
KCKCC will only accept 10 of there 55 students from outside Levenworth and Wyondotte County.
Yes JCCC is the only program I am applying for. I talked to my contact at the school and she said letters should be mailed latter next week.
'Cross your fingers'
The problem I am facing now is trying to find the drive to actually do the RN program...I will have to keep working full time, 11pm-7am, the the RN program is like 8-5 m-f. I have heard that the first semester should be ok on that work schedule but the second semester it gets real hard. So I am not sure that even have it in me.... we will see what happens.

I'm aware KCKCC only accepts 10 non residents, but that's 10 more chances than with JCCC alone. JCCC is my first choice, but I'm not willing to sit by and wait for them alone. If I can get into a similar program sooner, then I will. Plus KCKCC's nursing program begins twice a year, so that makes 20 slots a year.
If that makes sense.

One of my friends did this throughout our time at JCCC (I also worked full time but it was days, weekends, and staggered hours). He fell asleep a few times in class (we occasionally had to surreptiously nudge him when he started snoring) but made it through with As and Bs -- not only that, but he was exceptional in clinicals. So it can be done. We graduated in 2000.
Well hopefully this is the week we find out. I have an interview for the LPN program next week, and I would love to hear some good news before that! Either way I hope something works out.
The LPN program is good. It's hard just like any nursing school. I finished 3 years ago. I still keep in touch with the instructors. They are great. You won't think so while you are in class but later you realize it.
Well it looks like the letters will not be mailed out untill "hopefully" next week.
According to Gail Cummings, admin assistant at JCCC these letter will "hopefully be mailed out next week"....
What the heck is taking so long....
Owell....I have a few hairs left to pull out but the pickings are slim :rotfl:
