JCCC Part 2

Published

Well I applied again to JCCC. Its been a year since my last Application and well see how I do this year. I made it to 10th on the waiting list and wouldnt you believe that they made it to #9. Well we'll see how it goes this year...

What the heck is taking so long....

Seriously! :) I can't even think about planning my fall semester until I know what classes I'll be allowed to take.

Maybe we all did so awesome on the interviews that they just can't decide who to take.

Well it looks like the letters will not be mailed out untill "hopefully" next week.

According to Gail Cummings, admin assistant at JCCC these letter will "hopefully be mailed out next week"....

What the heck is taking so long....

Owell....I have a few hairs left to pull out but the pickings are slim :rotfl:

John

Talk about an agonizing wait....I've been checking the mail fanatically. I cannot survive another week :-)

I know what you mean....My wife has ordered some things in the mail and EVERY time the Mail carrier comes to the door I get all nervous.....then I just want to punch her as she laughs at me....lol

Its Killing me.....I remain positive though............

John.

Had anyone indicated whether or not they had made the decisions or not? A friend of mine in dental hygiene said they were deciding who got in today. I wonder if the nursing program is just not getting the letters out, or if they don't actually know who to send the letters to yet.

Although this late into my pay cycle, I could use another week if I get in. After some unexpected lab tests (that turned out pointless, of course) I don't have the deposit money readily available now! :uhoh3:

I know....:) What else is bad is my friends/family keep asking me (every single day!) if I've heard anything yet...

Well AGAIN!!!!!!!Per the Nursing department.....

:angryfire

"they havent gone out yet, but we hope in the beginning of next week."

I just want to wish you all the best of luck in your quest, and I will tell you that it is wel worth the wait which ever way you go, LPN or RN.

I have lived in the Olathe/OP area for a long time, and have heard good things about the JCCC program, but the bad thing is what you are dealing with, the wait, and not enough spaces to go around.

A couple of things to consider if it dosen't work out at JOCO would be either KCK Area Tech. School's LPN program, or Neosho County JC nursing program.

I went to KCK ATS, graduated in Feb., and the program is good, a few draw backs, but good. The best thing is the cost. With books I paid right around $2,600 total for the class. No prerec's, just had to pass the entrance exam, which was no big deal, but they too have a waiting list.

Neosho County, has a sattalite program at Ottawa Univ. in Ottawa Ks, 30 min south of Olathe, and I have heard very good things about the RN program. I will be looking at RN programs here in the near future, but for now the LPN after my name is just fine by me.

Take Care and good luck,

Dan

Dan-

Thanks for the info. I may look into that Neosho program if JCCC doesn't work out. I feel good about it though, and I had an interview for the LPN program today.

I'm in!!! I had pretty much convinced myself that I didn't make it in, but I did!!!!!!!

And why the heck do they need dental records? Not that it matters...I made it in!

Just a little excited here....!

oh my gosh!!!!! I'm so excited for you! I'm at work right now, and now I'm going to go insane until I get off at noon so I can check my mail---

Congratulations Hillary!! :D

Update: I got my letter too...didn't get in, but that's ok. Being out of state cost me those extra 10 points so...I applied to KU today--I'll go ahead and go that route since I was going to do it anyway.

again i didn't get in. unfortunately unlike last year there was no ranking number. last year i was number 10 on the waiting list and i have no idea where i fall now. i will be going down on monday to talk to them and find out what my options are.

i am interested to know hillary:

what is your gpa towards the nursing program?

how many credits do you have towards the nursing program?

what were your act science and overall scores?

i just don't know what else i can do to get in........

thanks,

john........you haven't heard the last of me.

:o i apologize for posting my happiness. i guess i just figured if i got in then surely y'all would. i'm sorry you guys weren't selected. i'd had liked 'knowing' some people in the program (even if it is via the internet).

the answers to your questions, john:

what is your gpa towards the nursing program?

3.76 (my science courses are all a's)

how many credits do you have towards the nursing program?

as of time of application, all but anatomy and physiology (i had taken it previously at ksu, but it had expired). i have it this semester.

what were your act science and overall scores?

science is 32, overall is 31

other possible factors (maybe???). i have my aa, and in the interview when talking about the nursing program i brought up my plans to pursue a masters with focus on certified nurse-midwife. that part of the conversation was one i personally thought was a bad idea afterwards because i brought up how i had my oldest daughter when i was 17 and my dream is to open a birthing center specifically for young/unmarried moms. the interviewer asked a lot of questions about that, so maybe that helped show my passion for the field?

altogether though, i am honestly surprised. i thought the interview went horribly--i'm much better at doing than talking about doing, and i know there are people with better grades and act scores than me.

tember--i'm so glad ku is an option for you! i know several people in their bsn and it's a great program. i wish i had the time/$$ to go that route, but my kids can't starve just so mom can go to school (again). :)

john--you should definitely give kckcc a try (as well as keep trying at jccc--even the LPN programs would get you one step closer). kckcc accepts in the fall and the spring, and it is also a great program. that is so weird jccc didn't rank you...you'll have to let us know what they say about that.
