Looking to get some feedback on this agency. Please post any previous experiences (good and bad) with this agency or any words of wisdom. Thanks in advance.

My experience so far with JayKay is not very good. I received a cold call from a recruiter and was told that they came across my resume and they wanted to know if I was interested in working in a specific type of institution. I said sure. The recruiter proceeded to tell me the salary/pay and that if I was interested they would send me more info via email. I was interested so I asked to get further details.

I was emailed their requirements to pursue the position along with some literature describing the position. Totally unimpressed, the literature was from 2003 and the requirements they wanted from me was a resume (which they said they already came across), 2 references, RN license, CPR card, driver's license, and my social security card. In my opinion this was alot of personal info that was required from a recruiter that placed a cold call to me. In my mind red flags were being thrown all over the place. When I asked for more info, the recruiter gave me some details about the employer, and benefits but when I asked to speak to someone that was staffed at the institution So I can get a feel for the position the recruiter said that wasn't possible.

Flags were flying all over the place now... I get a cold call asking for personal info, but I could not speak to one of their employees?!? Not a good sign. I did do my due diligence and found out that this company is legit but because of the interactions I had with them I did not feel comfortable in going into an employment agreement with them.

I wanted to post this because I could not find any info online or in allnurses in my research regarding JayKay. Please feel free to post your interactions with this company so other nurses can be informed on their business practice.

I have a friend who does local work for them. She has had no problems, and enjoys the contract she is working under. I personally do not have any experience beyond knowing her. As with any company. be careful!

I find that most places require too much personal information before hire or before an interview. It makes me uncomfortable too. The last place I applied was a LTC facility. I had to leave my info with a receptionist, plus copies of my SS card, driver's license, my nursing license and so on. I can understand the nursing license, but I don't know why they need the other infomation before there is any consideration of hire. The still haven't let me know anything. Allthough I know they have been checking my references. It's been 3 weeks now. I've left that information in just about every institution I've applied too. And most of the time you never hear from them.

Sounds like all the information that they need for the I-9 form. I've been on the employee AND employer ends of the form which is a personnel document that includes ID info (you could provide a passsport, birth certificate, military stuff, green card, etc) They're getting a headstart/jump on the paperwork that they will have to process IF you were to be hired. I've never been thrilled that it gets started early but some places do it.

I've done that I-9 so many times I can see it with my eyes closed (like the three sections in the middle asking for one item from column A or one item from column B and column C).

I received a call from a recruiter at JayKay stating she found my resume online, which it is posted on a few sites because I work agency/travel. She proceeded to tell me about a private contract they at a local LTAC. After a lot of paperwork being emailed and faxed along with a signed contract, I received a date and time to report to the facility for orientation. The evening before I was to report I received a telephone call from another recruiter at JayKay telling me that the facility canceled me stating that they no longer needed RNs. I called several times over the next couple of days in attempt to reach "my" recruiter and left messages for her due to her never answering the phone. I also sent her numerous unanswered emails. That was 5 weeks ago and to this date she still has not returned any of my calls or emails. The other recruiters always take my number telling me that they are currently tied up but would love the opportunity to speak with me as soon as they are free ..... never happens. My advice is to run in the opposite direction from this company!! There are several good agencies out there but this is NOT one of them. :no:

IMO, I would be wary of any staffing agency that calls you and immediately requests personal information. Especially if you've never had contact with them before and they cold-called you. It may be a legitimate call from that agency...or it may be a scam artist phishing for personal info. And scam artists know that there's tons of nurses looking for work, especially new grads who would be ecstatic for any company to just talk to them.

If you decide to send your info, you do so at your own risk...but I wouldn't do it if it were me.

Either go in person to their office to complete an application, or Google their website (do NOT go to URLs suggested by an unsolicited caller/e-mail) and fill out the application there.

Never give up your social security number until you have a signed contract with a job offer. Yes, they may want it to run a background check, but they can run the check without it, and are unlikely to run it anyway until the facility has interviewed you and has extended an offer. The more places that have your personal information, the more likely you are to experience a life changing identity theft, and not because this agency is or is not a scam but because they may experience computer hacking (how did they get your "resume" in the first place and your phone number?). Sometimes you have to give up personal info, but this is not the right time. Think about the major companies that have been hacked in the last twelve months, even the Defense Department was reported just today. Some fishy agency is not going to get my information until I have a job!

Lots of agencies and jobs out there. I can't imagine what they are saying to make anyone here bother spending any valuable time talking to them further.

I am new grad LVN and don't have working experience as LVN except clinical experience. I am very much interested working in Correctionals. I have heard that they like to train their nurse their own way but at the same time I have heard that they need one year experience.

Can ANYONE guide me how to find job in CORRECTIONAL ?

LVN eh? I didn't get that from this thread, probably explains this issue. I'm going to guess that employment opportunities for LVNs are very limited so the demand can make agencies like JayKay abusive, and even harder for new grads.

I would start with the source of jobs, the bureau of prisons or whatever it is called and local jurisdictions and see if there are direct employment opportunities or agencies involved (other than JayKay). Ask them about required experience. You might check out if local ERs hire LVNs. Experienced gained there should qualify you for many correction jobs.
