Jacksonville lpn info needed!?!?

Published

I am a graduate/newly licensed LPN from the state of Connecticut. I just wanted to post a thread here to see what feedback I could get back on the state of the positions available in Jacksonville, Florida. If anyone could give me info as to what the current rate of pay in JAX LTC's and the Hospitals looks like and if i would have to retake my state boards here to obtain my Florida license..THANKS!!!!!!!!

I do not know about the pay or anything, but I know most LPN's get jobs in nursing homes. I have only ran into one LPN the entire time I have been in clinical and they are trying to phase them out of the hospitals here I am pretty sure.

Yeah thats what i figured as far as the placement...they are typically in LTC in Ct too but there are some hospitals that will hire an experienced Lpn up here too...I am just trying to weigh out to the pros & cons of a move from CT - FL...I read a couple of other threads about an oversaturation in certain parts of FL and was hoping that was not the case in Jacksonville...Be great if anyone had any more info as to pay grades...THANKS..

Probably light on the replies 'cause most folks here are looking to be RNs? Dunno.

I have found very few job postings that give the actual pay rate but those I found for RN (not LPN 'cause I wasn't looking for that!:wink2: ) showed that a graduate nurse could expect (at this one site) ~$21/hr with ~$4 for night differential. That would mean that an LPN could expect much less.....

I did a quick google search and came up with this:

Good luck. Jax is a nice place to live!

Well thanks FLMOM...and to say thats a shame and what they try to **** on you folks down there with...As it stands i start tuesday at an LTC in my area of Connecticut and will start at $24.25p/h and after my orientation i will switch to 3-11 and get another $2.00 for the evening differential..I mean I do understand cost of living adjustments and all but when you break it down life is pretty much EXPENSIVE no matter where you go...may be a slight variance from city to city but not much...
