Hi...I am pretty new to the forum, but have already learned so much....I am just starting pre-reqs this fall at Jackson State Community College in Tennessee.....I am so nervous about starting from scratch at the age of 29, but I am also very excited!!!! I have attended college before, but was too young and dumb to finish....I guess I always thought I could do it later in life..guess I was right, ha ha!!! So since I made mistakes in my past college experience, I have applied for the academic fresh start program, where after completing 15 semester hours with a GPA 2.0 or above, my old crappy grades will be expunged.....I am attending full time this fall with 16 hours and I am going to start applying to the nursing program this spring for the Fall '08 term........I am so scared about not getting accepted, I just want this so bad, but I guess if I don't I will finish other pre-reqs for my BSN and by the time I get those all in, and if still not accepted to the JSCC nursing program, I will begin applying to private universities......has anyone on here applied to the JSCC program or attending? If so, how many times did you have to apply? Thanks!!!

Hey,
I am also a student at JSCC. I was just reading your story and it sounded a bit like mine. I am 26 years old and decided to go back to school for nursing. I am currently taking my pre-recs at JSCC and I did apply for the nursing program for fall of 2008. I have never applied before, but I have found out alot of information from other students in my previous classes. The main key is it have a high score on your ACT. As you might already know, it counts as 80% of your points towards getting into the program. Most of the people I have talked to made a 25 or higher on the ACT and had a very high GPA. It is a very competitive field to get into. Each year about 400 people apply for the nursing program. It just stinks that only 80 get accepted each semester (spring and fall). Well I am glad to know I am not the only one freaking out right now. All we can do is wait to see if we get in.
Good Luck to you!!! Maybe I will see you in some of my classes.

Hello I was just reading your comments. I learned alot about the colleges in TN refresh program frrom your advise. I'm in the sort of same situation as you but I have failed two nursing courses and I live in GA. I'm just started working as a LPN a would like to get my RN degree. I wondered did you know of any RN school in TN that is close to Ga that has that refresh program. I didn't even know that this opportunity was available thanks for responding to the other young lady. I wish you luck with your nursing career.
