IvyTech Fall 2016

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

Creating this thread because no one has yet!!! But with that being said, here's a little bit about myself. I live in Dallas currently but will be moving to Indiana in a few months to attend IvyTech for their ASN program. I have one son and I'm very proud of him! This is why I'm going to nursing school to ensure I can take care of him. I haven't taken my TEAS test but I will soon. Who else has taken their TEAS test? What campuses are you applying to? What points do you or will you have once your finished with everything? I'll be happy to see everyone's responses and I look forward to being on this nursing journey with you all.

My score is 152/160.

152/160 those are awesome scores, you both are a shew in!

I take my teas beginning of march. I am studying the TEAS guide, watching youtube on areas I don't quite get.

I hope to have a high score because with having 2 B's and A I am already short ...I refuse to retake these classes BC they were expensive, and B is above average so.... I don't see why its labeled as "bad"

We've got multiply threads up on ITCC for Fall 2016. Is there any way to get them condensed down to one? It would be easier than having 3.

I haven't been able to locate any of the other threads. I would love to read through them.

I just took my Teas test. I got a B in English, A's in the other 2 classes. I made a 76.7 on my Teas. I am hoping that will be good. I really don't want to take that test again, but I am debating it. I'm just not sure if it will be enough.

Unfortunately, the TEAS is like the SAT. Your score is kinda your score. They generally don't improve all that much on retakes, though it does happen for some people.

Ivy Tech knows this, which is why they only allow two exams in two years. If you're thinking about taking it again, just realize that might be your last chance. Personally, I would apply with what I have now and see. There's always a chance to take it again later.

I have all As in my Pre-reqs and I am taking the TESTsoon....I wish they would take prior work experience or bachelor degrees into experience....proof that we have already shown our value in Healthcare or our educational accomplishments..... I have met several people who have never been exposed to actually working in Healthcare and hated it after graduation....yet they took up a spot in the program. Pre reqs and a test score isn't enough for comped at I've programs, they need to look further into the individuals and have a better selection. :(

I'll apply to Bloomington Ivy tech...I'm a bag of nerves.

I took my TEAS today, got 71! Factor in the 45 (A, B,B) 116 total. Lets see what miracles look like

Sad part about it is if I had all A's I would be happy with the score of 131!

I spoke with the nursing department about last falls scores since they are the best guess on what we will need to get in. 153 was the highest....wowza right?! But that person ended up going to a different campus which freed up a new spot at Bloomington. Out of the initial 40, 15 choose to decline or go to a different campus. The score range for the initial 40 was 136-153. With the next 15 it went down to 130. For those that then made it into the LPN program their scores went down to 126. Hopefully this helps with figuring things out. I'm bummed that I actually finished ANPY and got an A but now it doesn't count in points...that would have been a nice boost.

Good luck!

So true and so sad. My husband laughs that when their isn't a timer I can get a decent score but as son as its timed..my nerves kick in and I get flustered. Any other situation though I'm fine, even when working the ER as an EMT I did well. Just testing...it kills me. I'm hands on. I'm a essay lerson...how I loath multiple choice. :) test is in 2 weeks!

It's frustrating because I have worked at the hospital for 5 years. I start IV's everyday, vitals, triage, etc. I had planned on getting my nursing and going on to get certified as oncology nurse. I worked there for 2 years and loved helping people.

okay enough of my rant.

I hope everyone gets in who is truly a good caring person.:cat:

Think about it from the Nursing programs' perspective. Their accreditation is dependent on one primary factor: NCLEX pass rate. If the school doesn't have a good pass rate, they don't get accreditation. They don't have accreditation, they can't be a relevant, competitive program.

And to have a good pass rate, they need to admit students who are going to not only be competent in their studies, but really excel academically. Whatever the TEAS V is, the NCLEX is worse. Compassion, sympathy, charity, grace...all good things for a nurse to have. Skill, knowledge, meticulousness, conscientiousness, these are things a nurse must have.
