Jennifer,

Which campus did you go to, if you don't mind my asking? I'm waiting to hear if I made it in for LPN this August. I was wondering if you had any specific pointers you could give me (even things I'll need to buy, like stethoscope, uniforms, etc.). :p

Hi there! I am waiting too, I applied at Columbus for this August. I think we should hear something soon. Where did you apply?

I applied at Madison. Did you apply for LPN or RN? I had a friend that took the NET test for RN at Columbus but didn't a high enough score or something to even try to get in?? Anyway, I'm terrible at waiting and figured I could jump into the LPN program and right after that's finished I can try for the transition to RN and be done in the same amount of time as if I'd went straight into RN, know what I mean?

We were told we'd hear something the 1st week of May, then we heard the 2nd or 3rd week and someone else told me the last week! I seriously hate waiting.

LPN, I decided I could not work for a year a bit easier than I could for 2. Eventually I plan on getting my RN, but this route works better for me and my family.

I went to Ivy tech Bloomington. To get in th eLPN program all you need is teh entrance test(no pre reqs, but you need english and psychology so some take them before) To get in the RN program you will need to take the NET teat and get a decent score and you get so many points depending on your score on the NET and you get points for grades in pre reqs. They start from the highest points and go down until all the spots are filled. As far as supplies and stuff, you need a stethoscope( a good one not a cheapy) they will do a mass uniform fitting usually at orientation. And let me tell you they are not at al flattering!! You need white shoes, either nursing shoes or plain white tennis shoes( I prefer tennis shoes just because they are more comfy!!) Adn the uniforms are kinda pricy but you dont have a choice in the matter. Good Luck!!! Jennifer

Jennifer, thanks for the heads up. I've heard the uniforms are not that attractive, (sigh). I need to start looking for a stethoscope and shoes now. I'm not sure exactly how much tuition/books/uniform are but the more time there is for me to spread out how much money I fork over, the better!

Where are you locaed in IN? There is an LPN program called Marion Community School of Practical Nursing or Tucker in the city of Marion. It is a full time one year course with no pre reqs

is where I am BUT the LPN program is in Madison and during the day. I really need to find something at night or maybe a full-time job at night. I cant quit working all together but it seems like I will never be able to get my LPN or RN for lack of programs.

Hi. I'm not sure if this will help or not but I know that Ivy Tech in Logansport offers the Lpn program part time.. I'm not sure when they meet and all of that but I do know that they offer the program part time and I think (don't quote me for sure!) it meets on friday evenings and all day saturdays.. That would be worth looking into.. Hope this helps! :)
