I have been looking for a thread for any Ivy students that have applied for 2016 and can't find one!
Since the wait for the letter is going to KILL me, I really wanted to start a thread to communicate with others who are also waiting on that letter.
So...
What are your TEAS scores, grades, and points? What campus are you applying to?
I have a TEAS score of 88 and all A's, and will be applying to the ASN and PN program at the sellersburg campus!
Hoping to meet other Ivy Techers :)
Hello,
I am currently a student at Ivy Tech South Bend. I am planning on applying to multiple campuses (South Bend, Indianapolis, Valparaiso and Gary) for the ASN program for the Fall 2016 semester. I have As in all my prerequisite classes and got 83.3% on my first attempt of the Teas V Exam. All points calculated, this equals 143/160 for my application. Is this good enough to get in? Should I retake the exam and try to score higher before the submission deadline?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this is giving me nothing but stress!!!

You would probably get into the SB campus. Indy tends to be more competitive than the others, but I would still say that your chances are pretty high.
I also had all A's in my prereqs and 87% on my TEAS. My counselor "unofficially" said I'd have no prob getting in and she was right. Friends of mine who got accepted had 75% and up. However, it really just depends on which semester you're applying to. More people apply to the fall semester start. I would say that you're fine.
Gary's NCLEX pass rate has been in the dumps for the past two years. You can see for yourself here: PLA: Ivy Tech Community College - Gary
According to this, they've decided to mandate faculty for tutoring sessions, have added a ton of "face-to-face" meetings (probably to sort the wheat from the chaff), and now only give students one extra shot at passing a class. http://www.in.gov/pla/files/Ivy_Tech_Gary_ASN_Annual_Report_2013_-_2014.pdf
Keep in mind, national NCLEX pass rates have been declining. They hit 82% in 2014 before bouncing up slightly to 84% this year. It's actually even lower than that because data I used (from the Texas BON) doesn't count international students or repeat test-takers.
What does that mean for me? Well, I'm not going to a school with an NCLEX pass rate below the national average. Here's where I'm looking for my decision. PLA: Nursing Programs In Detail You can find every single Ivy Tech campus on there. If it's below 80%, forget it. It's the same amount of money for each campus, so why settle for somewhere with a declining pass rate.
Evansville's pass rate is boss: PLA: Ivy Tech Community College - Evansville So is Terre Haute's. Whatever they're doing seems to be working.
Spring applicant here!
The wait has me on pins and needles as well!
My total selection points were 114.72
I got an A in English and Psych, but I ended up getting a B in Anatomy 101. I didn't do as good on the TEAS as I would've liked, I ended up bombing the science section and finished with a 64. I'm hoping and praying I get into the ASN program, but I also have the PN program as a plan B. I applied at Anderson, Indy/Lawrence, and Kokomo.
I'm not sure whether I should accept the PN if it's offered instead of the ASN, or I should wait to apply again when I score higher on the TEAS. I'd really hate to take APHY 101 again.
Right now I'm paying for my classes with financial aid, but I believe I only have enough aid left for the exact amount of credits in the nursing program.
I need to get in touch with the financial aid department, but I figure it won't hurt to ask here either. Would anyone possibly know if financial aid with also cover the PN to LPN transition, if you go for you PN first?
