Ivy Tech Spring '10 Applicants

U.S.A. Indiana

This is the "Not In" thread, or for anyone that's planning on applying for Spring Semester by the Sept 1st deadline.

We need love too! :loveya:

My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes

It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....

I just can't wait for the group registration in October, maybe then I'll have a better idea of what is going on. I was told by my advisor that it takes 15 months to complete the program.

Spring of 2010 = 13 CH, Summer of 2010 = 6 CH, Fall of 2010 = 13CH, Spring of 2011 = 6 CH with graduation in May. Wouldn't that would work?

Is anyone else trying to get into the Fort Wayne program?

I have a friend who applied to Ft Wayne but she doesn't post here. I believe she had a 209.

Kim--I guess we'll find out how they are doing the credit hours soon! I'm surprised they didn't say anything at the info session.

I know that a summer session is mandatory for Terre Haute, but I'm not sure about others.

On another note, besides uniforms, does anyone else know what we need to buy? I'm trying to get an idea of all the $$ I'm going to need to save. (That is, of course, IF I get in)

I know I will need to pay for:

-Background Check

-Uniforms

-Shoes

-Stethoscope

-Watch (because I don't wear one. lol)

-books

-Backpack/suitcase thing

hmmm already looks expensive. = )

I'd add whatever co-pays/coinsurance you'll pay for a physical and any titers/immunizations. Oh and a CPR class.

Are there different kinds of stethoscope earpieces? I had an old BP cuff that had an attached stethoscope and it was quite painful to put in my ears. I hope I can find one that is more comfortable.

I know they have different sizes, plus soft and hard. I'm currently on the lookout for super extra small soft ones. = ) My last pair were soft and small, and were OKAY....but still hurt a little bit. Most stethoscopes will come with different ear pieces.

Does anyone know for sure if you can take classes through the summer and graduate the following May? For example, if you start in January 2010 and go through the summer will you graduate the following May? I have heard that you can do this in Indy, but I just wanted to verify.

I spoke with one of the Co-Chairs for the Indy Campus and was told they will be doing the summer session again this coming year.

Another week down! Is it just me or is it going faster this time? Maybe because I know what I feared most has already happened once.

Ooh Ooh Ooh! On Campus Connect, Indy has the Spring nursing classes posted! So we can see what schedule options they will have! Yes I know we don't really get to choose, and I know the class schedules can change, but at least this is a start! After the kids get on the bus for school I will be perusing through the search thingy to figure out what my 'ideal' schedule would be.

Yawn @ 6:45 AM :) I am going to have to adjust my sleeping schedule. Thanks for the heads up Chris!

So, I wonder if they schedule people into all "A" sections of all the classes, or all "B", or all "C", or all "D". That's the way it seems to work, looking at all the class times, all the "A" classes fit together, all the "B", etc. First 5 wks is 100, 101, and 106(Pharm). Second 11 wks is 102, 103, 105, and the rest of 106. I just wonder if you have to stay in your letter section for the whole term, or at the switchover at week 6 can you switch to a different letter section as long as the whole-semester Pharm 106 you started in still fits.
