U.S.A. Indiana

This is the "Not In" thread, or for anyone that's planning on applying for Spring Semester by the Sept 1st deadline.

We need love too! :loveya:

My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes

It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....

Mommyof6, did you apply to RN? Or just LPN? Just curious since you said your scores were right in the range to get in for RN at the campuses you applied to.

Man, I saw the Med-Surg Nursing textbook yesterday. . . holy cow now I understand why most nursing students use rolling bags! That sucker was huge.

I have a neighbor who graduated from Indy RN last December. She told me that she still has a lot of her books and that I should call her first before buying anything at the bookstore. I hope the editions are the same, I would love to save money buying a lot of books from her!

csab,

Yes, I only applied for lpn... I'm currently unemployed and only have so much time on unemployment (unless my employer gets approved for TAA assistance, which I am crossing my fingers for). Therefore I am going LPN, try to get a job after I complete that and then do the RN transition program. I know, talk about taking the long way around :chuckle

Hey if it is what works best for you and your life then that is the way to go! Good luck, I'm sure you are in and will do great.

A million yes votes for a rolling backpack! I haven't seen too many of my classmates with them yet, but I have had people tell me that they thought I had the right idea by using one! I think by mid semester, more people will have them ;P

I got a Jansport rolling bag from http://www.ebags.com and I LOVE it!

Lennon, is yours a rolling backpack or a rolling suitcase-type bag? Which do you think is better/more appropriate for the quantity of books/notebooks/supplies etc that you have to take to classes?

I have this one - http://www.ebags.com/jansport/driver_8/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=20186 I actually found out about it from a post on here! I can fit my Fundamentals book (1800+ pages) with binder, laptop, 5 subject notebook, accordion file, and bunches of other stuff in here with room to spare. It rolls really well and I

csab,

Thank you so much!! I need all the reassurance I get right now...this wait for letters is going to drive me nuts :)

Lennon,

I noticed that you mentioned you take your laptop to class. Just wondering if you could tell me whether or not having a laptop is necessary. Hubby keeps trying to get me to get one but I just wasn't convinced that I really needed one. How are your classes going so far??

I took my laptop the first day in case I needed it, but I've not taken it ever since. I might have to for later classes but right now, unless I need it for something, it's staying at home because it's heavy! It's about 4 years old so not all tiny and light like the new ones :)

Classes are going pretty well, but let me tell you, I'm SO happy to have this 3 day weekend to get a little bit of extra rest! I'm only working 15 hours a week but going back to week this second week was pretty difficult. I can't imagine working more than I am now!

I don't know if anyone is interested, but this semester at least for Bloomington they changed the clinical uniforms. Now we get them from the bookstore and they're cheaper than they used to be. I went crazy not knowing what the uniforms would look like so I thought someone here might be interested to see them too. Here's what they look like -

Top - http://landau.com/product/8047 - It has the green stripes like the one in the picture

Pants - http://landau.com/product/8327 - In hunter green

Skirt (if you want that option) - http://landau.com/product/2226 - I guess in white since that's all it comes in

Guys Top - http://landau.com/product/1140 - In white

Guys Pants - http://landau.com/product/8550 - In hunter green

These are for Bloomington, I don't know about the other campuses. I would hope that they don't change styles again next semester, the bookstore has been doing a really crappy job of ordering and getting our uniforms to us.

Man are those ugly LOL.

At Indy, I've seen students in a white v-neck pullover scrub top with green piping on the v-neck, and green pants.

Is it just me or does it already feel like we have been waiting forever? I sure hope the letters get here at light speed. I decided to go ahead and take my CPR next Saturday. I might be overly hopeful, but I know I am going to need it. Maybe the next few weeks will go faster I will be a bit distracted because my baby (okay he is 5--but still my baby) has to have his tonsils, adenoids out and his nose cauterized :( I am sure that will keep my mind off of things for awhile. I just really hope that we all make it this time around.

Oh my! Those uniforms are hideous! I really hope Region 1 doesn't switch to those any time soon!!
