Ivy Tech RN Hopefuls Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I know it's a little on the early side, but thought it would be nice to start a thread for those of us preparing to apply for the ASN program starting Spring 2021! I'm wrapping up my last co-requisite in the Fall at the Lawrence campus and then will be applying at both the Anderson and Lawrence campus. I'm not sure which to select as first choice as of yet; I'm still doing some research on clinical sites, etc. I'm preparing for the TEAS next week! I'll be glad to get it over with... I've found the Smart Prep package from ATI really helpful ($$, but seems worth it).

Feel free to share any questions or comments, as well as to which campus(es) you are interested in applying to. Happy studying, and good luck to all!

Jessica, what campus did you get accepted into?

I got into New Castle!

Hi Naomi!

You'll probably get approved soon, I hope! I did have to send a note to one of the admins of the group to get in; I believe for me it took a few days to get in. Once in, the search bar in that group is gold!

Regarding selections, this is how it was explained to me. All of the seats are offered during the first round, but they need to be accepted/confirmed. We are given a date of when it needs to be accepted of a week. So the second round emails will go out next Tuesday, the third round the week after, etc. The second and third rounds are seats that have been offered or declined (ex. someone opts out because of personal reasons, decided the campus was too far, etc)

I hope that helps!

Is Ivy Tech regionally and nationally accredited ?

Yes, they are regionally and nationally accredited. If you scroll down to the bottom of the Ivy Tech nursing page, you'll see the details regarding accreditation ? If you're curious about NCLEX pass rates, I would check out the Indiana PLA website. Each campus is listed with pass rates from 2008-2018. They are behind on posting updated rates, but you can see the general trend on there!

Thanks so much! I read regionally but didn’t see the national. Thank you!

Sure thing! Best of luck in your program!

Naomi,

Were you able to get in to the FB group yet? If not, Holly and Katelynn are typically responsive if you send a message! And if so, there is a file Google doc file with the Spring 2021 applicants and scores. It can be found by either going to the "File" section - you can also find other scores there from previous cohorts, or it's under the discussion area as well. The comment section underneath also has some people's scores (it's a lot to read through... there are over 1,000 comments).

Also, don't lose hope! There was a recent thread about people getting in even after the fourth round and some discussion around that. My friend personally got in late! She was next in line point-wise and some dropped last minute.

Wishing you the best, and crossing my fingers for you!

Hi DaniHaywood!

I've never used this website before so I'm not sure if I'm replying correctly because it doesn't let me reply to any individual post. I finally got into the group and its been nice being a part of it. Thanks for making sense of the selection process! It makes sense now. My stomach is in knots waiting for tomorrow to see if I get in. I was a little upset last week just because I did see other applicant's scores that were the same as mine or even lower that got accepted in the first round because of the location they chose. I wish I could've applied to more locations but I still have faith and know I have worked hard to get here.

DaniHaywood,

Thanks for sharing about your friend, it gives me more hope! ?  Are you currently in the program?

Hi Naomi!

You are using it correctly ? It's super wonky I have found (or maybe I'm just getting used to it). I realized that I had to be on a laptop for my responses to actually post correctly - and that took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out LOL!

Yes... some locations are way more competitive that others. Either because of how many spots they offer, the number of applicants applying for those spots, and if they're in more of a rural or urban area (numbers game). The file section of that FB group was eye-opening in that regard!

I just got in last week to the program, so I haven't started yet! I accepted a spot at Lawrence. I had a friend that I was in pre-reqs with at Lawrence, and she ended up relocating to Fort Wayne. She got in after 4th rounds and she's up and running in the program! There is hope; I'm crossing my fingers for you tomorrow! Wishing you all the best!

Hi Dani!

I thought it was just me LOL! I can only reply on my laptop so that is good to know.

That completely makes sense as to why some locations are more competitive. Yes, that file section of that FB group was so helpful!

Congratulations!! That is so exciting, I hope you have an amazing experience. How are you feeling? I also applied to the Lawrence as my first choice and franklin as my second. Thank you so much! ?
