I had a supervisor who used to do me that way. She would ask questions of my co-workers behind my back, but never come to me to ask me about whatever it was.
I couldn't leave this job...........this was a state job and I wanted those benefits and retirement. So I couldn't quit and find a comparable job around where I live. This is a rural state and I couldn't drive 50-60 miles to work everyday.
Well, guess what! I have stuck it out, and now she's retiring! Tomorrow is her last day, and I don't ever have to talk to her again, as a supervisor, because I'm off work today and tomorrow. When I go back she will be gone!!!!
You just have no idea how glad I am that I've stuck it out and now she's gone.
This is the day I've been waiting for, for many years.
2shihzus,
I'm glad you read the writng on the wall and resigned. It seems that so many nurses ignore these types of situations, just try to keep a low profile, and hope things will improve- then they are fired.
Politics are one of the worst things about nursing, imo. Being a traveler has really helped me to stay out of work-place politics.
Best of luck to you, and here's wishing you a much better job in the near future!
Another though, I would mail a letter, signed receipt to the hospital administrator with a complaint and with your documentation about evil management. Just state the facts, time and dates and nothing personal. Call the evil management by MR. or MRS. don't use their first names, just keep everything professional and not personal. I have known hospital administrators to address problems with bad managers after the fact.

To make a long story short, I have had it. After being continually being harrassed by management and HR (for those of you who are interested, the threads are under "Called to HR, what fun!" and "Harrassment at work" and "troublemaking coworker" will give you an idea of whats been happening) I finally turned in my resignation. It was not an easy decision.
The breaking point was when I found out that HR and my manager (who "promised" that she would let me know if there were any issues involving me, and told me "don't worry!") were pulling some of my coworkers off the floor to interview them about me and my job performance. They asked them questions like, "Does she go to inappropriate websites?" (What a joke! If they are so interested, IT can pull up the sites I visit in a heartbeat!) "Do you think she is the cause of all the problems on the unit?" "Is she a team player?" Well for crying out loud, if they took the time to read the THANK YOU board we have posted in our lounge, they would SEE that I am thanked CONTINUALLY for being a team player and helping out everyone on the freaking unit!!!!
They also threatened to fire the people they talked to if they told me about the conversations they had.
This SERIOUSLY chaps my a$$. I am so po'd its not even funny. My resignation letter was short and sweet. I gave them two weeks notice, and didnt offer a reason why. And get this....my so called "manager" showed my letter of resignation to a charge nurse on days (who I happen to be good friends with) and asked her if she knew anything about it (which of course she did, but she just said, "Nope!")
The only thing that makes me feel a LITTLE better about all of this is the fact that most of my coworkers are upset that I am leaving. Most of them want to know WHY...only a few select people that I trust know the real reasons....to others, I just say that it was time to move on.
So now I get to go through the whole process of job hunting (which wont take long, I already have an interview at another hospital), getting to know new people, new routines, new charting, new managers, new EVERYTHING.
ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH.
I hate work politics. *sigh*
