I've Been Offered A Fantastic Job Opportunity

Hi Everybody;

It's me again. Last week I posted "HELP I'M UNEMPLOYED" about the problems I was having getting a job here in Salt Lake City, Utah and asking for some input on my interviewing skills, what was I doing wrong at the interviews. I want to thank all of you wonderful people who gave me such great input. Well I used to live in Reno, Nevada and decided to check out the nursing positions there. I applied for a nursing position in L/D at one of the hospitals there and they called me and did a phone interview and have since offered me a job starting at $28/hr working 12 hour nights with a 10% night shift differential. They are willing to help me re-locate back to Reno and will also help me with housing. I talked to one of my nursing friends about this and she told me there are red flags all over this and to further investigate this. She thinks that they are so desperate for nurses that they will offer me this world and the next just to get me to work there and that this job offer looks too good to be true. HELP!!!!!!!!

I guess my question would be....Are they willing to put this in writing.....before you make your final decision. If it is in writing, it would be binding on them. If they are not willing to put it in writing, I would be more than just a little suspicious.

I agree with the written contract proposal, If they sign and you sign, there are clear cut rules to follow. I have been told by other nurses who vacationed in LV, it was begging for nurses and money was good. Go for it if there is a written contract.

Specializes in OB.

CeCi - I found NV to be one of the higher paying states as a traveler, so the salary doesn't sound out of line. I contracted in a small town several hours from Reno and several of the OB nurses there worked in Reno as well and spoke well of the hospitals there. The one thing I would make sure of is a guaranteed orientation/preceptor for l&d.

I loved the area and plan on going there again when I can.
