In California, the IV Cert is an "official" certification that can be added to your license. I don't think that's the case in many other states. However, it is offered at many schools, private and public, and ranges from $300-$500 (3 day course) and you also get 30 CEUS. I also have a TX LVN license and found that IV cert classes aren't really offered anywhere and its something based on facility policy that allows LVNs to do IVs.
Hi, I'm a LVN in Houston, Texas. I would like to obtain an IV Therapy Certicate, but I'm having difficulty finding a college/school that provides this course. Any suggestions?
Thank you! I've been looking too & thought U of H or Sam Houston would have one but couldn't find one. I live in Magnolia but I'll go down to S. Houston for a one day course! Thanks!
Probably difficult because Texas BON does not require LPN to be IV certified, but only recommends it. The facility you work at will dictate whether they allow it or not.
