It's been years since my last post

I posted to a thread here years ago...here's a refresher:

https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-discussion/just-got-canned-80720-page4.html#post943325

I've been unemployed (happily), with the exception of working in a clinic until they could find someone full time for the position. I had to keep my license from going inactive, so it worked out for everyone involved.

Anyway....

Karma......you gotta love her:

The nurse that was my clinical mgr....the one that read my chart while I was in the hospital as a patient, got canned for privacy violations against another employee.....this time it was caught on tape & the employee sued.....and won......:yeah:

The VP that derived so much pleasure in firing me...... got caught cheating on his wife, the hospital admin. knew (hell, everybody knew) about the relationship (with another employee), and his wife sued them for concealing his adulterous behavior, so to save further embarrassment & legal entanglements, they fired him too.....:yeah:

And the hospital? Well, my elderly mother was admitted there for renal insufficiency while I was out of town. When I returned she hadn't been turned in 48 hours & she developed huge decub. ulcer. I managed to get my hands on her chart & her admit. H&P was incomplete......no skin assessment was ever charted the entire time she was there.

I could have sued, but I took pictures of her chart & sent it to medicare instead. They were found to be out of compliance with the state, they received zero compensation for her stay, & they were fined $550,000.00......:yeah:

I pressed for increased staffing through medicare, citing studies I researched, but they got out of having to change their patient to nurse ratio.

That's the only downer in the whole saga, I really wanted to help the nurses (and patients) by forcing the hospital to increase staffing. Until the govt. steps in & forces hospitals to toe the line on staffing, we are all in danger, nurses & patients alike.

I don't know a single nurse still working for that facility, not one. Looking back on the experience, I don't know how we survived.

God bless you all,

Don't know which is more astonishing, that you haven't posted in so long or that you were happily unemployed. Every time I'm unemployed, I'm miserable and some people join AN and never post.

Does seem as if you've been busy otherwise! Glad to hear that some got their dues.

No, I didn't win against them, another nurse knew about what happened to me, carried a tape recorder in her pocket at all times & caught her on tape.

This clinical mgr. actually had the gall to pull charts of nurses when they went to the ER in our facility & then ran around telling our peers who was in the ER & WHY!!!

Can you imagine someone pulling that kind of crap?

Well done for all of you!
