And I really need to know her secret of how she retired so early at a young age I just want her secret for looking young."Lice" - might have been nits on Saturday but they treated her so well and her hair was still wet so it was difficult to tell what was adherent and what was dandruff. On the plus side - I had a kid come in asking to check height/weight for his driver's license application. I said "we could just guesstimate" but he really wanted to be correct. And we talked about his car that he got as a junker and fixed up with dad's help. High five, kid.

Let the two weeks before Christmas break shenanigans begin! Had a parent call me to let me know that LD forgot to take anti-seizure med this morning, but "she should be fine just wanted you to be on alert" not to mention that I have asked multiple times for meds to be kept at my office just in case she does miss them.
Or the kiddo who comes in saying she just need was change of clothes which mom brings. Then she breaks down and starts crying when mom arrives about her menstrual cramps which mom already gave her ibuprofen for. This kid has missed so much school and I try to encourage the student to go back to class, mid-terms are coming up, yada yada yada. I leave my office to go tend to another kid and mom has signed her out. Ugh!
Or the little one who was c/o of a sore throats since Saturday. When I asked what mom said, she said "mom said I need a peppermint". That one made me giggle!

Every year just before Christmas break the clinic excuses are just wacko. I had a 7th grader with a "pulled eye muscle." And a 1st grade frequent (daily) flyer who had pain behind his knee. He said he had an x-ray over the weekend, couldn't remember the diagnosis but clearly remembered the doctor saying he should see the school nurse if it bothered him at school. Riiiight-o.
An ADHD kid who forgot his med at home but stole a handful of cough drops then reminded me to refill my jar and told me I should put ice in my water pitcher. Seriously, every visit yesterday was a "c'mon now!" visit. I thought I would pull an eye muscle from all the eye-rolling.

We have a stomach bug being passed around, so now every kid in the building has a stomach ache and is going to vomit, but can eat lunch and play at recess without issue...
Can you take a lice day? It's not a sick day. It's just a day off.
Oh, not me. The students : (
Oh, I knew that. I still think you need a day off. It's a lice day.
