There have been quite a few nurses from Italy that have come to the US to work.
If this is something that you desire, you will need to go thru all of the licensing procedures as well as immigration and we do have a retrogression in place so you are looking at several years before you will be given a chance at a visa for the US.
Suggest that you read the Primer at the top of this page for information that you will need to have.
Best of luck to you.
thank you, suzanne,
these days i"m trying to read all the stickies above , to understand what one should do to be able to practice nursing in the usa.
but... don"t you have the council, regulating the profession, as in italy or GB. all you need is to pass NCLEX and get your visa ? ( surely it"ll get lots of time) do I need my diplomas traduced e certified ? can"t find list of documents to prepare , when i move to the USA... what can they ask me for ?

Each state has their own board of nursing and regulations. They also have their own requirements for foreign trained nurse and you have to meet them.It is going to take years to get a visa and everything has to be done
The Primer at the top of this forum will give you the basic information that you need. No reason to read all of the stickies.
Each state has their own licensing board, so requirements need to be met for that specific state before you will be granted permission to sit for the licensing exam that we have called the NCLEX exam. You also will need to pass a series of English exams as well for immigration. There are also some states that require that the English be completed before being able to sit for the NCLEX exam.
You actually need to have all of this done before you will be able to get a visa to live and work in the US, it is not done once you get to the US. With the retrogression that has been ongoing for more than two years as it is now, you are looking at years for a chance at a visa.
thank you Suzanne and Silverdragon for the attention to my post!
i found that i can take my NCLEX exam here, in europe, without going to the US. surely, i must study hard before taking it....
sorry that nonbody from italy could write me, sharing his experiense ...
I would check out the NCLEX forum under the student tab. Give it time you may still get some answers
