Hi,
Is there anyone out there currently enrolled in Phase 2 or 3 of ISU's LPN-BSN program? Or are there any graduates of the program? I am working on my prereq"s and am getting a little nervous the closer I get that I can't find any "students".
Thanks, Brenda

Hi Adnerbe,
I would like to know too. I am working on prereq's too and am contemplating about registering with them.

I have the letters and info that they state in that thread. We are just wanting to know if there are any students out there and what their experience is or was.
I am personally concerned because I do not see any clinical facilities near me. Their literature states that they help you find a clinical facility but I called several times and spoke with different people about this and got different answers. I did speak with a Asst. Dean. She stated that you need to go to a facility and speak to the DON. Tell the DON about your program and see if they would let you do your clinicals with someone that would qualify as a preceptor. Another time I called I was told by someone else that they find you someone. This is why I want to ask someone in the program already.
Thank you for the thread though.

I was told by my TCN rep that ISU does indeed set up the clinicals. The packet from ISU spells out the steps to getting a clinical site set up and it confirms that. It better be true! I'll be sooooo angry if I have to set this up on my own. Let me find a link while I'm thinking of it. Need to confirm this again for my own sake! lol!
I am fortunate because I work in a small rural hospital and the DON will do whatever it takes. I am fully prepared to set up my clinicals myself. They give you the guidelines and goals to meet. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
What I am looking for is a college degree. Because I am an LPN, Nursing makes sense. If my only goal was to be an RN, Excelsior would be my choice. Unless you want to go into a management role, there is not alot of distinction in my hospital between a 2 and a 4 year RN. 4 year RN's make .50 more an hour where I work so it is not about $.
Just my thoughts....

Ditto your thoughts here. I decided to go back to school because I'm homeschooling my kids and we're doing classical which is really rigorous and I didn't feel like my public school education gave me what I needed to give my kids the best possible education. Classical academies are around $15-20K per year per child. We have 2 children and my husband is enlisted military so homeschooling is a no-brainer for us. lol!
Anyway, I bumped around a few majors...Humanities, English, etc (my school didn't offer a BA in Classical Studies) and finally decided I needed to also ensure that my degree would result in some $ coming in to pay student loans back. I didn't qualify for any grants at all...just student loans..ughhh! So getting my BSN seemed to be the right choice. I've done most of the electives I wanted to do for my kids sake. Did Art History, did Mythology, teaching myself Latin and Greek along with the kiddos, etc., doing Classical Foundations and Literature Analysis at my old school this fall so I'm ready to move on to just nursing classes.
I'm babbling...what was my point again? lol! Oh yeah...getting a degree for its own sake and not to get paid more as an RN. lol! So yeah I've got reasons for wanting my BSN outside of a small wage increase too. :) I also want to go to grad school at some point. No idea what I'm going to do there though. Possibly MSN, possibly law school, who knows.
Do you actually have the CSM from College Network?
Hi, Do you actually have the CSM from College Network?Brenda
I have Micro, A&P, technical writing, public speaking, pathophysiology, gerontology and the 4 phase 2 ones. That's all I had left to do when I signed up.

I am interested in applying to this school as they have a clinical area near my home. but do anyone know how long does the whole program take if you are an LPN?
Depends on how much college credit you have and how quickly you complete your CSMs. I think they said something like 2-3 years assuming no other college credits.
It looks like 3 years once you have met all your prereq's. It says you can Fast Track if you meet the requirements but I am working full-time and 3 years will be fine by me=)
