Issues with paychecks - missing hours, not getting a raise I was promised

Maybe someone can help or maybe I'm just preaching to the choir. I accepted a position with a $5/hour raise. I've been in this position for over a month now and haven't received any part of my raise. I'm receiving night shift differential of $1/hour now, but seriously? Our time clock is soo finicky - we scan our fingerprint to clock in and we can only clock in like 3 minutes before the shift starts. Sometimes it won't register but you won't get an error message. I can't count how many people I know who regularly have to fill out "missed punch" slips when they know that they were at that time clock, put in their employee number and scanned their fingerprint.

Since I've been on nights, I haven't had any interaction with fun departments like Payroll or HR or the staffing office. Both payroll and the staffing office approved my time card with 3 missed punches out of a 10 day work week. I had punch out times, but no punch in times, so the shifts didn't count towards my hours.

So there were 24 hours unaccounted for and no one told me about them before the time cards were approved and sent to corporate to write checks. Also, because these hours are so screwed up, I've picked up extra shifts only to not have them count as overtime. I have to go in tonight and have the 3-11 supervisor sign off that I was there at work almost a month ago on certain days. She'll sign it, but under reason for missed punch, I'm putting "time clock did not register punch".

Even if I turn in the missed punch slips tomorrow, I've been told that all I can do is wait until next paycheck and maybe something will be added (my raise is considered a bonus) after this pay period ends.

I can't pay my bills based on what my next paycheck is going to be. I've made the least amount of money this pay period than when I started with the company.

I'm not the only person who "misses punches". When I worked days, the payroll lady would call at least half of the people working in the facility to her office to fill out a missed punch slip for at least one shift. Doesn't that seem odd?

I know I'm probably being impatient and complaining to corporate may not do anything other than get me into hot water, but this is not all my fault. I see to be the only one willing to accept any responsibility for it.

OMG what a horrible payroll system. Your organization is skating on very thin ice -risking violations of FLSA. If they KNOW that a problem exists & they are not doing anything to correct it, this will only make it worse for them. Sure, it sounds like the technology (time clock system) is buggy but they need to have some sort of backup system in place rather than just go "oh, well" & hope it goes away.

Seriously, payroll systems need to provide workers with an opportunity to validate their hours --> then have them approved by their supervisor before it is processed by payroll.

You are NOT being impatient or complaining..... you are entitled to be paid for the hours you work. Anything less is a violation of Federal law. Make an appointment with HR to discuss this if your supervisor cannot help you.

Alright, I left the administrator an extensive voice-mail and spoke with payroll today. Payroll is going to hand cut me a check for the 24 hours that were missing and all of my back pay from my raise will be present in my next check as a "bonus". :)

See! what happens when we speak up! adult like, of course....
