who issues the ATT?

Published

Hi Everyone,

I have received a letter from NY BON saying my application has been accepted and I may now sit the NCLEX-RN. Is this the ATT letter? All the while I thought they send the letter to Pearson Vue and Pearson Vue sends me the ATT, then I can pay for the test. Will someone please tell me what is the next step to take? Many thanks!

Anybody know the web site - I carn't seem to find the right one - or rather I don't know which is the right one

Cheers

Pearson-Vue also updated the time that it will allow you to be able to take the exam. It was only three months after they received your funds, now it is one year.............

The site is http://www.vue.com

Yes, I applaud your intentions to clear things up and help foreign nurses. Not to mention, all of us have same intentions.

This myth was floating around these forums for a while and I wanted to clear this because one of my friend had a tough time till I clear this to her. My friend was misinformed from this site that BON sends the ATT. (Like everyone else, she also got lot of valuable information from here as well), She was waiting to get the ATT from BON and then register at PearsonVue. Her point was, "why shud i register and park my money at PearsonVue without ATT?". By the time I told her and convinced her (with all possible official website links and referrals) that its the PearsonVue who sends the ATT, she had wasted 5 weeks just waiting for the (never to come) ATT from BON. Luckily, she could clear it before the retrogression began and filed her papers just before Dec 30 2004.

Well, its not such a big deal WHO sends the ATT. X or Y ? Who cares ? And also someone who follows all the required steps promptly may not even notice who had sent him/her the ATT.

But its very (verY, veRY, vERY, VERY) important for someone who just wait for the ATT to come and then register at PearsonVue. The bottom line is, one will NEVER recieve the ATT if they dont register with PearsonVue.

Haing said that, Its not TRUE that the "rules have changed and just very recently". This (PearosnVue Sends the ATT) is the rule atleast from August 2004 because I recieved my ATT from PearsonVue on Aug 2004.

To Summarize :

You will receive ATT if and only if

You apply to BON , follow it up promptly
and
You register with PearonVue

You will NOT get ATT if

You apply only at BON and do not register at PearsonVue

OR

You register only at Pearonvue and do not apply at BON

Hope now its clear for everyone.

And for the person who started this thread, Please post here where did you finally got the ATT from.

Hi ALL,

Thank you so much for all the information you have posted here! I can't believe I wasted so much time waiting for my ATT (either from NY BON). I was waiting for it so I could register at Pearson Vue, not knowing that I should have registered with Pearson Vue right after I got my letter of eligibility from NY BON to receive my ATT. Imagine if I didnt ask on here, I would have waited a year for nothing!! Thank God for allnurses.com and all the nurses on here who are very willing to share valuable info! I thought NY BON sends the ATT and that I couldn't register or pay Pearson Vue until I had the ATT on hand. I received this notice from NY BON saying I am eligible to sit the test and I was like, "now I only need to sit tight a bit more and wait for my ATT". It took me over 3 months to get this letter of eligibility to sit the NCLEX from NY BON. Off to mail the registration form and bank draft to Pearson Vue :) .....Thank you so much Everyone!!!

hi everyone,

i am copying and pasting the exact wording from the ncsbn website. thank you nyrntx for the link:

authorization to test

after the board of nursing declares a candidate eligible, they will receive an authorization to test (att) in the mail (and through e-mail if an e-mail address was provided during registration) from pearson vue. a candidate must have their att to schedule an appointment to take the nclex examination and they must take their att with them to be admitted to the test center on the day of their examination. candidates will not be admitted to the examination without their att뭩 and will be required to re-register and re-pay to take the examination.

again, thank you everyone for the valuable info. you just saved me from more months of waiting for nothing!!!!

You are welcome! Glad that I could help!

If this forum had not clear the myth, I fear you would have been a carbon copy of the tragedy my friend had to experience.

But anyways, being a regular visitor of the site for the last one year, I could see 2 other myths floating around here. (Dont get me wrong, this is a great site and has LOT of valuable information as well. This is what i did when i started my Immigration journey: I did not blindly swallow anything from here. I swallowed it only after i validated the information from other sources, if possible official, as well. Yes, its a pain. But noone is more concerned about your issues than YOU. So its better you take that pain)

Myth 1) VisaScreen is required before you apply for I-140 and I 485 together.

Myth 2) PERM help nurses somehow ??

I would have tried clearing these two myths with all possible links and quotes, but I dont think its worth the effort because it generally applies only to nurses who are already in USA (DependantVisa/VistorVisa/etc). I assume most of the members of this forum are now out side USA (Specifically Philippines/India/China)

But following are the realities

1) VisaScreen is NOT required when you file I-140/I 485 together. Its required(Yes, its required. Only question is WHEN its required) only by the time USCIS start looking at your application. (Can take 6-18 months after the application. (If intrested to learn more, please refer my other post here https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?p=981625#post981625 )

2)PERM cannot help nurses in anyways. Actually it would complicate matters for the employer and attorney and might reduce the annual visa numbers available for nurses. Since PERM is a much complicated topic and even attorneys are not clear how its going to be, I dont have any useful direct links here. If someone sincerely believes PERM will help nurses, please post your thoughts and how exactly it will help nurses here.

welcome swirlingwaters_2449!

the reason, i did not paste this extract from ncsbn website here, is to make people read it directly from ncsbn website so that it would have more authenticity and would clear any doubt on the topic.
