Is it wrong to date your instructor after semester?

In all likelihood she could get fired for it. Not illegal, just not extremely ethical either. Colleges really look down on this sort of thing.

Yes, wait until you graduate. Bad things could come up for you and her if you started dating as a student. I take it you've never talked to her about this...she may not even be a cougar....

i didnt talk to her about this at all because i was aware of the possible consequences. believe me, she is a beautiful asian cougar.....hahaha

stay far away until after graduation. who knows what could happen between now and then. just because you had her for one semester doesn't mean she won't pop up again and an instructor for another course. that would make for big problems. its not illegal but very unethical.

oh in regards to calling her a "cougar". unless you know for sure she has a history of dating much younger men, she isn't a cougar. she just happens to be a beautiful older (although 30 is far from "older" to most of us but it might be to you) woman. and really a woman who is 30 can't really be a cougar. she's considered a "puma"

Jeeeeez man. You have time to wonder about dating?? Hell - I'm working on my BSN and work full time. I'm lucky if I can get a shower in some days, let alone ponde a social life --- But for the sake of keeping your life less complicated, I'd wait until diploma was in hand along with a passing NCLEX slip and a RN license in the state of your choice.

At that point, it's all fair game. However -- I have found that dating within the profession can create for some boring dates -- Try to broaden the horizons, unless of course you're just after that one thing women are always accusing us of chasing....You know? .....Successful Women!

Please don't embarrass her by asking her out, or by indicating in any way that you are interested in her, not until you have graduated, taken and passed NCLEX, and have a job.

It would be considered highly unethical for her to date a student, even if she is never again your instructor. It at least gives the appearance that this is an unequal relationship, that as a faculty member she has some coercive power over you. While you've made it clear here that's not the case in reality, the appearance/possible perception is what is important.

Once you are finished with school, have passed the NCLEX, and have a job, then it should be abundantly clear to anyone and everyone that you only reason for dating her is that she's the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen in your life.

I agree. You should wait or just not even go there. There's gotta be some hot girls in you're class, right? They're much safer -- albeit dating fellow students is a whole other can of worms you might not want to open!
