I've been reading all the problems that it seems a lot of you have been having just to get in the programs. I don't want to wait forever just to get in . You would think they would have more opening with such a shortage of nurses.

To have more openings they need more instructors, money, etc...From what I understand, instructors don't make alot in salary. But do I think it is worth it, YES! If you are determined to reach your goals you will do want ever it takes. I applied to three different nursing programs, none with waiting lists, because I don't have time to wait. I had to aks myself, in 3 years from now, do I want to be at another JOB, or do I want to be in a CAREER. Try checking out different programs in your area, and surrounding areas. good luck.

Really, the best person to answer "is it worth it" would be you. Is this something you really REALLY want to do? If you're at all unsure, taking the time to do some job shadowing, volunteering in a hospital, getting a CNA job will help you decide.
Do you want to go through the schooling necessary to be an RN, or will you be happy with an LPN program? This is a huge consideration, and whether or not you become a nurse at all can hinge on this one.
Some places on the map have long waiting lists. Others have little to none. Some schools will have long waits in the same area as those that have none, due to cost factors. Decisions such as "do I want a diploma program, ADN or BSN" will greatly impact where you might go, what kind of wait you might have.
Talking with advisors at various schools will also help you decide.
Best of luck to you in whatever you DO decide! :)

If you want something bad enough, it's worth it.
