Hello Everyone!
I just got accepted to a LPN program 50 miles away from my home! At this point I'll drive 200 miles to ginally get this accomplished!! My financail aid advisor told me to look into the WIA grant to help me pay my tuition!
I read some stuff on it, but it's still not clear! I live in New Orleans and the government here is not really on their feet with education and government aid for people who truly need it!!
HELP!
Hi everyone. I was recently told to check out WIA (or WIOA) and I'm lost at what it is and how it helps. Can anyone who's done it offer some information? How to get it, what does it cover, would it also help in housing? Oh I'm currently starting an accelerated nursing program next month in a different state. Thanks in advance :)
I saw in previous posts you are looking at Drexel. In the Philadelphia area LPN, CNA & respiratory programs are covered for PA residents but RN is not. The programs covered are generally local to the applicant. So an out of state 2nd degree ABSN program would generally not meet the requirements.

No it does not cover housing. You must be unemployed/displaced employee. It will assist with tuition and fees after you exhaust available financial aid resources. Often not available for second degreesThe career must be on the designated shortage lift for your region. It rarely covers out of state programs. Generally LPN covered but RN not covered. The program must be completed in 12 months or less. It may extend unemployment benefits if qualified. You must qualify based upon financial need and provide verification of income & expenses. Certain expenses such as child care so that you can work/attend school reduce your available income.
It's a needs based, funds available program so the neediest are prioritized. There is the risk funds will be exhausted before you can access them and there are attendance mandates b
