The DON resigned first. Then several of our wonderful nurses disappeared. A nursing supervisor was demoted, and then later fired. Our admissions coordinator resigned. Our human resources director left without giving a notice. Another director/coordinator put in for a transfer. Our MDS nurse left without giving a notice. Our administrator has resigned and will be leaving soon. Even the secretaries and receptionists are all leaving.
A supervisor tried to reassure me that we're just going through some changes and that we will all come out the other side just fine. However, all of my coworkers are looking for work elsewhere. Something tells me that we're a sinking ship.

That ship has sunk.

Yep. Run for the hills.
Perhaps you need to swim to shore before commencing your run to the hills.
Jeez. I thought I was being whiny, but I guess it really is getting bad. The thing is, I really love our new DON. (She was our ADON prior to the changes.) She's worked for this facility much longer than anybody else and has seen it through many ups and downs. I'm not sure what kind of changes will occur with a new administrator, though. I guess I will keep an eye towards other job prospects in case it gets even more dismal.

Hello dear poster,
Looks like it is a nursing home. I would say stick around if you are an RN. Wait and see. Administration is a whole other story. They cannot run a nursing home without nurses. You have become very precious because everyone else resigned. See where the ship is headed. Nursing homes are almost never closed, even in the direst of circumstances. Any violations or bad ratings are reflected on the record of admin not the floor nurse.
See where it is headed. It may happen that they might hire people who may make things better for you. If not, you can always jump later. Just keep your eyes and ears open for opportunity.
Eh, it appears that the ship has already sunk. I got sucked into a "promotion" which involves me being on-call 24/7 and doing part of the ADON's job (without the salary or on-call pay). I would be lying if I said I didn't feel insulted, but there's not much I can do other than notify the DON that I want to return to my previous duties, and hope that she lets me do so. (I didn't sign anything, so there's nothing official.)
I'm applying for other jobs as we speak.
