I will be taking my NCLEX in the next 3 months. I have been told that the Kaplan book is a good book. I had one friend fail the NCLEX the 1st time but past the 2nd time after using Kaplan 2005-2006 book. I just wondered if there is a better one to get or is he right with his choice? Thks a Bunch for any feedback

Hi. That is one of the books that I am using. Before I graduated nursing school, everyone I had really ever talked to about preparing said "use kaplan". I know their book guaruntees a passing grade. One friend of mine wnet to a NCLEX review in some state and posted tips that she learned. No joke, most of the tips were exactly what kaplan was saying. Also, check out the cd that comes with the kaplan book. It is a test of 180 questions very similar to the real NCLEX test format. It will tell you how many you got right, how many you got wrong (#'s). It also breaks down in what areas you are strong and not so strong.I am also using Lippincott's book. It doesn't have any review but strictly questions. It seems to be pretty good to..but it doesn't guarentee anything. It follows the NCLEX test plan. I got it just to practice tons of questions. It has over 5,000 questions and a cd.

They guarantee a passing a grade, or will refund your money. Not everyone passes. You forgot the bottom line to the sentence.

The saunders book has way mor than 180 questions on the CD. It was the only thing I used to study and I felt confident in my knowledge the entire test. I don't know about the Kaplan, I never used it. Some people have mentioned that they find it hard to use (format). Those suggestions your friend mentions ARE helpful. What I did is type NCLEX tips into my search bar and found a wealth of info without buying the kaplan book. So in the end I got the best of both worlds. Numerous study questions on CD format (saunders) and nclex tips from the net.

i'd use the saunders book along with mosby's interactive cat. that's more than enough material to get you through nclex. there are many ways to do it.
Thanks A bunch! I will check out all 3 books you all mentioned. This will help me calm my nerves a little! LOL

Have you tried going to "testpreview.com" ? If you scroll down the side, it has practice test for any potential test you will ever take, nursing related Nclex included. It was quite beneficial in helping me practice for my entrance exam which happened to be the Nelso Denny. Be blessed hopes this helps!
