That's wonderful, I actually go to North Harris, however I am enrolled in the Nursing Program 2006 Fall @ another College. They are wonderful overthere, thanks a bunches!!!

I am quite smart, but one of the biggest mistakes I made was taking A & P with Micro, these 2 classes are quite demanding and I had 4hour labs with each class weekly. So tha put me in lab alone for eight hours out of every week as well as about the same amount in lecture, completely over whelming and I had to divide my loyalties between the two and the expense of the other classes. Not smart, if you intend to be sucessful and make it through it the first time, do one each semester with classes that are not so demanding. Youhave to be completely committed or you will not make it.

I live in Houston and have dealt with alot students in my school that had to redo alot of things to meet certain levels of criteria. Not to worry, just go through the motions and take care of your requirements because the nursing industry needs you. Quite frankly Ihave been pursuing this road for three years to get where I am now in my quest to become a nurse. I finally enter into the program this fall 2006, having received my acceptance letter on June 15-2006. I have a question, I would love to ask all the nurses as well as the nurses to be. How much time have you spent in the bed of a patient, how many hours, days, weeks or years, collectively have you spent in having to be cared for by a nurse either in a hospital setting or in a home setting? How much do you think it would help to have had that experience? I personally spent 20 plus weeks a year in the hospital for many, many, years, have had countless surgeries, and 2 porta cathes over the last ten years, one I kept in my chest for 4 years and the second for 6. A great deal of the time I was on home health care having to hang alot of my meds, IV's, reload the pca pump, promethezine injections, dressing changes in a sterile field etc. All of this is why I am so passionate about being the best nurse I can possibly be. Out of all the 100's of nurses I've had, thank God the bad ones were few. How much do you think all the experience I've had being a patient will benefit me in the hospital setting on my journey to become a nurse? Would it had helped you more if you had at least some experience from the other end? Would love to read your responses, thanks in advance be blessed.

Have you tried going to "testpreview.com" ? If you scroll down the side, it has practice test for any potential test you will ever take, nursing related Nclex included. It was quite beneficial in helping me practice for my entrance exam which happened to be the Nelso Denny. Be blessed hopes this helps!

Don't worry about your GPA or the board or anything else because it is what it is and you cannot change that! You are one step closer to realizing your dream. Take time to Praise God and thank him about it and how faith for the rest, never put a question mark where God puts a period, you will be fine, and you ARE IN!!! Don't be discouraged, I had been doing my pre-requisites and core requisites for 3 years. I heard so many horror stories about your GPA this and GPA that and how competitive everything is. Well, even the Counselors Offices @ 3 different Community Colleges went on and on about how difficult it would be to get in once I finally applied. I had even met many people saying they had been waiting for years. This did not discourage me, as Nursing is not a job or a new career for me, even though I turned 41 yesterday. This is a calling that I have had on my life since I was about eighteen but unable to pursue as a direct result of some pretty tragic medical circumstances. I knew God would be the one to move me where I needed to be, just like he was the one to heal my body of so many things that were wrong. "According to your faith, be it unto you". What ever you are bold enough to believe God for he will give it you. I had just left the Counselors Office in tears, because she went on and on about 12 point system and my needing to take all of "B" classes over and get A's to be competitive. After crying for two days I realize, that was just one schools opinion, long story short, I went to another Community College, the day before I arrived un benounced to me, they had just extended their program for the first time in ten years ( the deadline that is). I had about 7 business days to pull everything in order to officially apply by their new May 31, deadline, I was just able to do it on that very day, received my ticket to take the entrance exam the following week on June 7, took it scored in the top ten percentile, received my exceptance letter today!!! June 14, 2006. The entire time, before I took the test, during and after, I believed God, that it would happen, I stood in faith. I never worried, I told everyone how well I would do on the test and that I was waiting to receive my letter of acceptance. Be confident!!! We need great, passionate, caring, concerned Nurses, there is no reason you can not be one of them. Perhaps you should move to another school, look around, this Nursin school will be my 4th Community College!!! If it's your dream, don't let it die! YOU CAN DO IT!!

Yes, to answer your questions, soon enough nurses will be so valuable the average healthcare system will ensure to delegate smaller task to people with less educational training. However, that does not make that person any less valuable than you are. The bottom line is the patient, the care that the patient receives should be uppermost. If a patient has soiled themselves even if there is someone else to take care of it, a CNA or assistant, they could be tied up or busy. If you walk in on that situation you should rememdy the situation as quickly as possible. This is where passion for people come in to play. What would you want if it were you or your close family member? In alot of instances, all one has to do is to consider how would you want to be treated in the same situation. A patient knows if you mind helping them or not, and they should never feel as if you have a problem with it, or feel you would rather not. Nursing is not a job or a career, it is a calling! I have changed many soiled diapers, washed hair, clipped toenails, and bathe many adults as a volunteer. No one has to pay me to be humane, compassionate, caring and loving. This is a natural attribute that alot of nurses have automatically and then others develop it later. Be blessed in all that you do and remember, what would you want if it were you?

Sounds like your describing patients in Sickle Cell Crisis is this the case?
