Specialties Emergency

:uhoh3: or is the ED becoming more and more dangeropus a place to work? Last Tuesday I had a pt pull a knife, fortunately he did not open the pocket knife and it was in the local paper yesterday that there was 3 shots fired in another local hospital's ED waiting area. Makes me want to rethink my desire to stay in the ED. :o

Of all things....I have one of our security guards right now as a pt!! Think I should dole out the demerol for his kidney stone in proportion to how much security he provides? hahahaha

If nursing were performed strictly according to how each person performed in life.....there would be a lot of security guards with inadequet(sp) pain control and poor care........but then there would be a lot of other folks in that same boat and then where would that leave the nurse when he/she got sick?? Sometimes it just does not seem fair that we treat everybody with respect and provide quality care across the board and there are folks out there that are supposed to be looking out for our well being while on the job and we get squat! :angryfire

OMG, heaven forbid anyone joke about pain control! We ought to put that in the terms of service to warn our new members.

But you have to admit security guards have fewer grey cells so it takes a less amount of pain meds to anethisize their cerebrum proportionately

You guys are a hoot!! You'll be glad to know I was sooooooooo nice to my security guard pt last night. I tried to take the high road and subscribe to the "kill 'em with kindness" thing. :rotfl:

Tom, I refuse to set my self up with any other answer than: Thank you for living up to such standards :chuckle :p

Native......We will put you in for the sainthood for taking the road less traveled and trying to kill the security guard with kindness..... :rotfl:

I believe there is a biblical passage (no offense to anyone) that states "you shall reap coals of kindness on their heads" meaning kill them with kindness......hehehehehehehehehe! I guess there is something to be said for "killing them softly".....at least it's legal, right?? ;)
