Is there any shy and quiet people like me?

My main major is nursing , but I am very shy and quiet Also, when teacher tell us to write something, I forget what she says.. and I don't want to make her repeat it 3 times. I have a problem with hearing,, I don't know. Has this happened to anyone? So frustrating. I am not smart at all. I was born to be dumb.. >_

I love doing physical things rather than mental. I really don't know if I can do this. I mean, I do good in college. I usually get straight -A's and B's never below B. Well, I took classes.. like grammar, reading/writing, basic math, algebra one... these were easy. You think I should just keep on and try to study at least 2-3 hours per day? Or too much?

oh , and I don't speak loud enough. They are like " what?!, speak louder " :p

The one piece of advice that I will give you is never give up and never call yourself dumb. I have learned to many people will pick up on your insecurities and make things worse for you. It is shark with blood infested waters mentality.

Very true. I noticed that some of our instructors pick up on weakness or other anomalies and pressure those students more. I'm also very shy and have had to make myself be more outgoing and talkative for the sake of nursing school. If I didn't, how was I going to get information from my patient? During my first weeks in the spring I was so nervous I hardly entered the patient's room. I felt so bad and then felt worse when I saw the others moving around and getting stuff done while I was recovering from my jitters.

I just learned how to fake confidence late that semester and this semester and so far its been good. By doing that, I've actually begun to feel more confident. When I go into a room or answer my instructor's questions with an air of confidence, I notice that they don't loom at me as puzzled anymore. However, if I don't know something, I won't lie. I just tell them I don't know it, but it's better than sitting there in silence...or going around other corners when you see them down the hall.

You can do it!:yeah:

Thanks guys. I can't be silence in Biology until it ends because I have a presentation paper.. I have to talk in front of the students for 5 minutes.

I need to reheorifice before Thanksgiving, that's when it's due.

I hope it goes well.. I just need a good topic.

I am in my last year of nursing school (graduate in 7 months!) and I have Asperger's Syndrome (high-functioning autism). My grades are good, but my social skills are something that, especially as a nurse, I will have to work on for the rest of my life. I don't like to talk a whole lot (though I do add my comments to our conversations), and I can become so singularly focused upon a pt assessment that I forget to talk--I have to remind myself to say something such as niceties, etc. So don't let your quietness make you think you won't excell as a nurse! I almost didn't join nursing school because of my disability, but it has done wonders for both my people skills and for my personal confidence. You can do it!

Thanks! I am doing good in biology. Sucks that I got a 71 for the test, she tricked us on periodic table which is 45 points! I did the opposite.. so she took off 15 points or I would have gotten a 86.. That's OK, I think my average is like 85-95. I am bit upset because I could have gotten a 86.. at least I passed the test. My goal is to pass that class with a B+ ^_^

I hate labs because I am quiet.. so my groups don't even look at me.. I feel like I am not learning anything because they do everything.

You're not the only one who hates labs! I used to hate labs because I was always stuck with idiots for lab partners, and I could've gotten the work done twice as quickly--and twice as well--working by myself.

I wish I could work by myself, but I am not good at labs.. it's hard because I have to answer question. :\
