Is my school the only one that ends this late?

I am getting a little anxious because our graduation isn't until May 28th. All of the other BSN programs in the area have already had graduation. When I think about the wait for the ATT, then the wait for my test date and then job searching I get pretty anxious thinking that graduates of other schools will have such a huge time advantage on their side. Most of the hospitals in the area won't let you apply until you are licensed. Why would my school put us all at such a disadvantage?

There are a few schools in my area that don't have graduation until the 26-28th. Then there are some schools that finish incredibly early, like around the last week or so in April.

I know it seems like it's against you but you have to remember for the most part, colleges and universities have a standard academic calendar for their entire college population. So they probably didn't have licensing students in mind when doing it.

Just imagine how people graduating in June-August feel about you May grades.

Interestingly enough, the college of nursing actually gets done two weeks later than the rest of the college. Crazy... I suppose there is nothing I can do but play with the hand I was dealt. Still extremely frustrating, though.

My term isn't over until June 11.

I graduated May 7th, but my school hasn't sent in our paperwork yet. They said it could be up to a month before we get our ATT. I've read posts on here where people have their ATT a week after graduation, so don't fret. I'm in the same boat as you, even though I graduated weeks ago

Our last day is June 15th. (:

We don't grasuate till the 28th too!!!! my final is this week, talk about stress

Graduate May 27!!!!! :D

Although I graduated May 14, most new grad programs dont begin until August. I've even seen them with start dates as late as October. So if you're looking for a new grad program, you should be fine! Buuut, you mentioned job-hunting, and most of the new grad programs I've seen are already closed for applications...

Yeah, there is only one new grad program in the area... they start July 16th! Not that I got even an interview, though. Only people that work there as CNAs have to worry about that (as they are the only ones that got interviews). They have to have their NCLEX done by the end of June. I wonder how all of that is going to work out.

So it is a matter trying to compete not only with the new grads who graduated before we did, but the new grads from December and last May that still don't have jobs. Excuse me, I think I feel an anxiety attack coming on...

I'm in a summer program, and our last semester started on May 3rd, and our last day of class is July 26. After that the school has to send everything in. I think a lot depends on what area you live in, but I think it's good to stay positive! Our school told us to start applying a month or so before graduating. I have applied at 2 places, and both places have HR keeping me in the loop about what positions are available or will be available.
