Is this a 'safe' list?

Anatomy and physiology usually require two semesters whether or not they are separate or combined, one semester at 4 or 5 hours is not normally accepted. You need Psych 1, or 101. I would add elementary algebra and English 1 or 101 to your list. Pick the school you are most interested in attending, follow their list, then add to it as appropriate, when the time comes.

Well what if my community college only offers 1 A&P course? Then what should I do?

If that is the only nursing program you are interested in, fine. Otherwise take the courses elsewhere. My physiology professor told us that schools are getting away from the combined anatomy/physiology combination and that it would be better to take the separate courses because that way one is maximizing their chances of having their credits accepted without having to repeat the sequence.

My community college ADN program requires Anatomy & Physiology I and II. In addition, microbiology, general psychology, Human Growth & Development, Eng. 1301, Microcomputer, and Humanities.

If I were you, I would check with the program in which you plan on attending to make sure that all your prereqs from the community college will transfer. At that time you can ask what to do about the anatomy class.

The ABSN program I'm applying to requires:

2 English composition classes

U.S. history

U.S. government

Intro to Psychology

Developmental Psychology

College Algebra (or higher - I started college with Calculus I and that works)

Statistics

Chem I for majors with lab

Bio I for majors with lab

Human anatomy with lab

Human physiology with lab

Microbiology with lab

At my school anatomy and physiology must be taken separately. Unfortunately, that means that students trying to transfer in with A&P together have to retake both classes.

My advice is to pick one or a few schools that are your ideal schools, look into their requirements, and try to meet all of those. That should give you a well-rounded background and prepare you to apply to the program of your choice.

I agree with Juliaann it's probably best to look at the colleges you are interested in and take your prereqs accordingly

If you are just trying to get started, that is a good general list. Most colleges in this area require a full school year of A&P (3 quarters). Do find out how extensive the A&P class is at the comm college in question.

I know that for each school the requirements are different, but I am trying to find a *general* list of courses to take that are accepted by the *majority* of nursing programs (planning to apply to an Accelerated BSN/MSN program).
I am planning to take them at a community college too.
Is the following a good list?
1 course in Anatomy & Physiology
1 course in Microbiology
1 course in General Chemistry
1 course in (Upper Division) Psychology
^Those seem to be the pattern in many that I found lol.

Why not find 3-5 nursing schools you're interested in and compare the reqs? My 5 all share the same reqs, with the exception of UTHS SON here in Houston allowing me to take Intro to Chem rather than General Chem.

A&P 1 and 2 is pretty standard, so are Nutrition, microbiology, Psych 1, Intro to Philosophy, and Soc 1.

Isn't an accelerated program if you already have a BA/BS? You're not going to take your 60 hours of pre-reqs then transfer into your SON?

Some people still have a lot of pre-reqs to take, even with a BA or BS. My BA is in history and I got it 4 years ago and have just been working full time since, so even though I had my English/history/psych requirements done and that I will transfer, I have been doing my science pre-reqs at the community college for a year and a half now. I'm finally at the point where I can apply to my accelerated BSN, and will hopefully start in May.

Depending on what degree/s the OP has, he or she may have a lot more classes to take or just a few.

I have all my pre-reqs to take, but that's not exactly what's being asked.

OP is looking for common courses, generally the science ones, outside of the general curriculum. I think I answered rather nicely.

I applied to an Accelerated BSN program. It required: Stats, Psy, Soc, A&P 1 & 2 w/ lab, Microbiology w/ lab, and Chem w/ lab (only 7 courses). I had done Stats from my first degree. I knocked the rest of prerequisites I needed in 2 semesters.

Other schools I looked at wanted Organic Biochemistry & Nutrition. But it's better you narrow down a couple of schools your interested in and take the required classes.
