I thought I read the test was changing in April? Does anyone know if this is correct and if so, what changes are being made?...... If it were you, would you test before the new test comes out or after.....Studing like crazy right now, goal to test last week in March....

Hi, yes, the test is going to be changing and it is going to be a higher passing standard. Translation: tougher to pass. There is some good information on the NCSBN website, but it is still a bit confusing to figure out how the change in "logits" will affect a test-takers score if they take the test on March 31 or April 1st. I don't know if I should study intensely now and try to pass before April 1st or if it would be better to slow down and take it after April 1st. I guess I will try to schedule an appointment date before the end of March and if I don't feel ready by then I can reschedule. But does anyone ever feel truly ready for this test?? How many hours per day/week are you studying?

I read that and thought it just said the changes were to RN nclex not PN
The NCLEX-RN changed last year. The NCLEX-PN is changing this year on April 1. And that's no foolin'!
I tried breaking down the percentages of each catagory of questions, didn't help much, seems like they are adding my infectious control questions. I mailed my app out 2 weeks ago, so as long as I receive my att by the end of the month, I'm hoping there is an available test time. I have no desire to be one of the first one's to take the new version. I have been studing about 3 hours a day (which I need to increase!) I graduated in 2006 so it's been along time! I dont know this will be my 3 try and hopefully I can do it this time !
Thanks for all your posts, Good luck :hdvwl:
Hi Ciprea,
Love your little headbanger! Lol!
Which books that you are using or have used in the past seem most like the actual NCLEX questions? I thought Saunder's was good and I was feeling a little more confident until I started the Hurst Review book, which has an entirely different approach, in my opinion, and is somewhat harder and more tricky. But if that's how the actual NCLEX-PN is, then that's the one I need to be studying most from! There are no testing dates left in my area for the end of March so it looks like I'm going to be one of the guinea pigs in April for the new test. It terrifies me! I only wish I had known about the exam changing on April 1st a few months ago, as I should have started really studying much, much sooner!
:smackingf
I started studying using the green nclex book, but that is the book I have looked at for the last 4 years on and off. I do believe the book makes my stomach turn. I started using the cram exam disk and I really like it, however the explanations for the correct answer are not that detailed, so i''m not sure if the repetitiveness will do the trick or not. After reviewing others on this site I went and bought the LaCharity delegating book (super afraid of SATA questions) I read the first 3 chapters and it seems like it would be for the RN test, I havent touched it since. Last week I bought the ncsbn 3 week review seems pretty detailed and not too difficult, figured since they made the exam, their review should be right on. Only down fall, I wish either of these things I'm working on had more SATA's. I'm not going to stress which test I take, if I dont have my att or a test time by April 1, my plan is to just maybe take an extra 2-3 weeks and study alot more.... Only time will tell how this all goes.
Where abouts in FL are you? My closest testing center is about 30 miles away (Tampa) lol hope that's not the one that's already booked through the 1st....Keep me posted on your progress, haha let me know if you come up with an awesome book :sstrs:
I have been checking my local sites regularly to see if dates have opened up and they have, the only trouble is I'm still feeling not ready to test. I have been studying diligently, and started to feel confident after absorbing all the test-taking strategies in the Kaplan book, which I found very helpful in analyzing the questions and answers. However, all that went out the door when I checked Kaplan's Nursing School pass rate on the nursing board's website----it was only like 65%! So now I'm back to feeling scared again! Frustrating! I wanted so much to take it in March. I hope you were able to get your ATT in time and reserve a spot at a testing site before April 1. Could you write and let me know what you thought about the learning extension review? That's what I'm planning to sign up for next week when I should finally be done with all my in-depth review. Good luck to you! :)
My learning extension ran out (3 weeks) before I could get through all the the information. I am going to pay the 50$ again and do it again. I test on April 13, (as long as I dont get cold feet and reschedule) As of right now I am NOT ready for this test, I'm so sick of reading these books and doing question after question ! My problem is if I dont pass this time I will have to do the refresher class (the one the bon makes you do after failing 3 times) which isn't that bad but the one place that offers it around here tends to reschedule it due to not enough people taking it, and I cant drive the 2 hours away to another class. So if I fail it may be months before I can test again. I dk anymore ! this sucks !!
Anyhow keep me posted on your progress, Hope all the best for you !!!
