Is paramedic graduating from Excelsior able to get FL license by endorsement?

Hi, just a bit confused about the FL BON statement. Can anyone help me to understand it better?

My question: would I be able to get FL RN license by endorsement or by exam only (like NCLEX, I guess?)?

Graduates of Excelsior (formerly Regents) College:

Applicants who hold an active RN license in another state may apply by endorsement.

Applicants who held a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse license at the time of your

enrollment into Excelsior's program may apply by exam.

If you DID NOT hold a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse license at the time of your

enrollment into Excelsior's program and wish to apply by exam, submit an application

for licensure and include a petition for variance or waiver of the Board rule concerning

the clinical component of your education. Information about petitions for

variance/waiver may be found in Florida Statutes, Chapter120.542. Board staff cannot

assist you with your petition. Your file will be reviewed by the Board at the next

available Board of Nursing meeting. For information regarding clinical training please

refer to 64B9-2.008, F.A.C in the Nurse Practice Act.

Thanks! Silika. :uhoh3:

Looks to me like you have to apply for that waiver if you are going to get licensed in FL. It clearly states you must have been an LPN when you started Excelsior to get it without the waiver. Perhaps somebody who has gone through this can enlighten us.

I thought you could endorse in with 2 years of experience. Your best bet is to contact the BON directly. Let us know if you do, and what you find out. :)

I too am a Medic/Ec Grad and I would like to maybe do travel nursing in the Sunshine state one day. I e-mailed the Fla BON and the lady basically said if you have a license in another state, come on down they will endorse you. maybe she wasn't clear when I explained about EC but she seemed to act like it wasn't a big deal
