Moving from KY to FL
Hi! How are you? I would say the first step is to get into the area and hospital you want to be in, get hired where they need you most, in the next 6-12 months on the job ask to shadow nurses in departments you want to be in but have no experience in. That way they will get to know you personally and you will meet their manager so you can make a good impression. When position opens, quickly apply and go say hi to that manager and nurses again, with your printed resume in hand :) Hope this helps...relocating to an area where no one knows you and you don't have experience in is tough. Also, I am an independent medical recruiter, so if you like I can see if the company I am subcontracted with has openings in your area of interest. You can always private massage me. Thanks, Lina C.

Pensacola State nursing program
Hesi test will have a lot of A&P I and II questions on it, you also want to brush up on algebra lots of fractions, proportions questions on the Hesi test. Buying and studying the book recommended by the college helps alot! Good luck.

RN school graduation gift to self? What did you promise yourself?
We all know RN school is hard enough. Some excell in it, some struggle, while others enjoy a challenge. I am starting to think I am going to have to reward myself with something very nice in the END ( graduation). I would like to ask "all nurses " what did you do for yourself, to reward yourself for all the hard work? Something? Anything? Nothing? Take care.:yeah:

How long is your commute?
Call me crazy, but I am considering commuting to my next nursing job! (Still in school here, so I am just day dreaming) I live in NorthWest Florida where nursing jobs are a rare find, not to mention the low pay for Florida nurses. I actually commute now to Houston TX every other week for my flight attendant job. I am thinking about applying to some Level I and II hospitals out there, as a PRN, because I do have the benefits of stand by flying. I hope to work a day, two or three there and fly home. I do not want to move out of my paradise home..! :redbeathe

Excelsior - TAKING TOO LONG :(
I had applied to EC and was processed within 2 weeks. Now the current college I am in, took forever, so I called and it turns out that because my last name is different now from my maiden name, for which I had HS transcrips under, it got filed under UNKNOWN. Once they looked in that file, there it was, and was processed instantly. Call`em. Good Luck.

How many more math classes will I need?
Hello, this is what I finished so far: math prep class, pre-algebra, intermediate algebra, and I am now taking College Algebra class for my ASN. I had a choice of taking statistics or College Algebra, and I went with College Algebra. I did good in the other math classes, however this one is a tougher cookie to bite into. I am just wondering is there more math classes ahead? I mean for BSN and Masters Degrees? I really want to continue my education past the ASN, but not sure if I can handle more math, as it is only getting harder... Please share what you know. Thanks so much. Silika.
