I was planning on attending nursing school this fall. However, I have no experience in the healthcare field. It keeps my up at night and I think about it alp day on if I actually want to go. If you asked my why I want to be a nurse, I could probably give you two reasons: the money and the opportunities. Besides that I really don't know. I already went to cosmetology school and dropped out. I knew I didnt want to go then but went anyways and just told myself to suck it up. I don't want to go though that again. When I mention this to anypje they just say that they think I can do it. I stress myself out so much that I have small panic attacks. I don't know if it's because I don't want a repeat of cosmetology school or if I just really don't think it'll make me happy. I don't have any experience so I don't know if I'll enjoy it. I feel like I should know what I want to do by now. I'm only 18 but I don't want to keep waiting to start a career. Did anyone else have doubts before starting school?

Before you commit time, money, and sanity to this endeavor, please see if you can get a shadowing position.
The money in nursing can be awesome depending on where you specialize, but you're going to be absolutely miserable if you don't enjoy the work.
Healthcare really isn't for the faint of heart.

You are only 18, so there is no need to rush into anything! Don't feel pressured to get into a profession just because you have to. So many young people on here have gone many different ways getting their "dream" degrees to only fail at them, racking up thousands and thousands of dollars in debt. Take your time, as PP suggested, get some shadowing gig, or try volunteering. You can also speak to former or current nursing students, even nurses, about their experiences.

I was the same before I began studying as a nursing student. I was lucky enough to be able to shadow and speak to other nurses before I applied.
I made sure to do my research to decide what area I would prefer (currently studying mental health). So I would say speak to people within The profession and try get yourself shadowing job.
Or or even part time work in a hospital or another clinical area so you can see how nursing is and decide from there.
It was the best decision I made as I really enjoy it so far so defo look into it

I agree with shadowing. You have to really be sure you want this to succeed in the program. It's not easy.
