Is my net score wrong?

Published

I really need someones help before I call ERI and inquire. I didn't do that well on the reading portion of the NET. I started looking and I really can't see how they came up with my horrible score. I do the same calculation on the math and I get the same number they do.

If any of you have your NET scores handy please help! There were three sections on the reading portion, Inference, main idea, and predicting outcomes. Next to these are the percent you got correct. If you could add up those percentages and divide by 3, do you get the same overall score? By their calculations I got a 55% on the reading comprehension, and if I calculate the reading score as I did for the math if get a 61. Its not much better but it gives me a better chance on getting into a program. I am taking it over again regardless but would really like to know I didn't completely bomb the reading portion.

Thanks

Jacob

Who did you call, ERI? Or did you call the nursing department at your school???

I called ERI, and they knew my question as soon as I said " I have a question about how my score was calculated"

If it were me, I would take my NET test into the nursing dept. at my school and have them go over your results with you. At least you will then understand how they "weight" the scores. I can't figure out any other way they could score a test like that.....

I know for my school and many more, reading and math are the only two areas on the test that are calculated into your final composite score. The learning style and stress level profile sections is just informational, it is not part of the score...

Yeah I can't figure it out either, and when talking to friends of mine nobody understands it either. What would be the point in saying that being able to find the main idea is better than inference or vice versa. They said the math was the same way. It is better to know how to do fractions verses decimals. I don't know, as I am just a pawn in this silly game.

I am just going to have to speed up my reading which is the problem. I have never been a fast reader and yet still was able to get a bachelors degree.
