I am one of those nurses who are still waiting for their CES from CGFNS. My question is: What courses do they (CGFNS or BON) typically require you to complete before you can take the NCLEX? I hear people talk a lot about Mental health and Pediatric. Is it almost automatic for all foreign general nurses to take these courses? Please, help me ease the pain of waiting for CGFNS. Thanks.

a foriegn trained nurse must meet the same requireents of a US nurse and this is usually done through CGFNS although some BON do their own assessment. A lot of UK trained nurses at the moment unless they training provides it are usually a bit short in some areas as UK nurse training is more specialised. The best thing to do is wait for your CES report as that will say whether you are short in any areas. Each Bon has therir own requirements so will differ from state to state.
