Is local boards really a reqt to apply for nclex?

Published

Hi! I just recently finished my nursing degree. I don't have any plans of practicing nursing in my country. Can I apply for an nclex even if i didn't the local boards in my country? I'm planning to practice in California since my sister is already there. Any inputs or suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks.:nurse:

As mentioned before this is the California Standard as of this year, for whatever reason they changed the policy and won't waiver for one person, sorry. There must have been a reason for the change.

i posted this question in another thread. then i saw this. would only want to ask this here as i think this is the proper thread.

i was just asking if one passed an application to CA BRN with a letter of explanation as to not having a license yet, and a board pass letter, will CA BRN not process the application until they receive the copy of the local license??? i am really worried since it takes months for the local license to be released in the Philippines.

i would just like to clarify if there will be a delay in the processing since we will have to wait for the release of the local license. thanks!

CA is requiring the local license and that means that you have a license number that can be submitted to them.

They are no longer accepting any letter of explanation to satisfy this requirement.

We also do not recommend CA for initial licensure as they will not issue a license without the SSN# either.

Please check out the International Forum for more on this.

What if I am an RN already here in Florida (I studied in the Philippines and still a green card holder), and if I move to California, will there be a problem since I do not have a local license from the Philippines? Thanks.

hi,just concerned i already took the nclexrn here in CA 2yrs. ago but unfortunately i failed then took my 2nd attempt this month dunno the result yet but i have a feeling that still i didnt make it... and i dont have a local license in the phils.,coz i migrated here in U.S 4yrs.ago... If they change the policy this year that they not allow to sit in for nclex who doesnt have local licence, my concern is if i failed again, and submit my application to retake the nclexrn are they gonna ask me for my local licence?:uhoh21::(

It is up to CA to make that determination for you. If you have been practising in Florida, then it should not be an issue.

Your original application is still on file with them, so you should be okay.

However, you need to be aware that they have the right to change this at any time and require you to have the NLE.

I would focus on getting your results first, best of luck to you.

thank you suzanne for the response, i really apreaciated! wel guess your right,im just gonna wait for my result....but i feel nervous already coz its been a week now since i took the exam til now i didnt see my name on Ca BOn website... thanks once again and GOD bless!

hi, i am on the same boat.

no PRC for me.

took nclex RN august 1. CA BON.

its been 12 days, no result online/mail yet. i have SSN.

im scared, also thinking what if i fail (hope i pass..) will they let me take the local philippine boards first before i can retake the Nclex RN. my mind is so stressed out now.

good luck and God Bless us all.

hi,epoy yeah you're right where on same boat,i took mine last aug.5,08 til now i didnt see my name on CA BON, they said the average waiting on the website is 3-10days if you have ssn#. so maybe let us just wait the result on mail,3-4 weeks to wait... regarding the issue of our local licence according to suzanne our file is already in... so less worry i guess! lets hope and pray that we are still eligible to take the nclex w/o the local licence requirements...hang on there! GOD bless and goodluck to us!:wink2:
