Is an hour too long to drive to work

Personally, I wouldn't do that to myself. My current job is 10-15 minutes away, as was my old job and my university. But that's one of the main reasons I choose to live in the city--I try to be as environmentally sound as I can in this day and age. That includes working near my home. I also can't handle long commutes.

Having said that, I in no way hold it against anyone who chooses to commute over long distances to work. If you really want the job, and feel that you can handle the commute, then go for it!

I can't answer this for you. However, I drive an 1 1/2 to my job. This is not because I can't find a job closer (I pass several hospitals on the way to my job). It is because I want to work in pediatrics and the only children's hospital in my area is this far away. So far, the drive is not bothering me that bad. If I am particularly tired after my shift, I take a nap for an hour or two before leaving the hospital.

Personally, I hate long drives to work. Had a job once where It took me about 40 or 45 minutes to work. It got old and I hated it.

That's just me, tho. I don't mind long drives for sight seeing, or vacationing....I enjoy those kind of drives, but not everyday to work.

So only you can decide what to do.

I can drive in 30min - but ride a bushbike in 50min. at peak hour the time to ride is the same as drive - I use the travel time as the destress for the day so that I am not taking work home with me - when I get home it is home time. If I where 5 minutes from work my wife would get pretty sick about hearing about the day :chuckle

I put anywhere from 50 to 200 miles a day on my car I always do over 1000 miles a month .Doing marketing and assessing ,Pt for home care. Its sometime a very bad drive .When the weather is snowy or rainy .Then its the pitts.Here we can get up to 3 months of winter .
