Is it hard for a new grad to find a job?

I am considering going to a private(extremely over price:bugeyes:) BSN-RN program here in Colorado. Well I have seen a lot of post lately about new grad RN's having a hard time finding a job and it really scares me! When I was in LPN school I honestly never even thought about NOT finding a job and lately I am hearing it is harder then it was a few years ago

The great difficulty in finding a job is due to the terrible economy right now. I would imagine that things will have improved by the time you're done with the RN program in a couple of years. Many nursing programs have a waitlist alone of 2-4 years so hopefully the economy/job availability will improve in that time.

I agree. Also I've heard that many of the agencies just do not want to go with new grads unless you work for them already as a PCA or CNA. I think this will change because there won't be any "experienced" nurses left to hire, so if this is something you want to do I say go for it. I'm sure you'll be able to get a job by the time you are finished. :wink2:

By the time you are done there will proably be a major shortage. It's a continuous cycle. Jobs dry up, people stop enrolling, leading to a shortage, which leads to higher pay which leads to increased enrollments, which leads to many graduates which..........

Some people are experiencing difficulties but it depends on where you live.
