hello. i just graduated from fashion design school with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. ive always had a passion for the medical field. before fashion design school, i got into the pharmacy school for NIU and i backed down because i didn't like it that much (my parents were disappointed). i am applying to get into the fall 2009 ADN program for college of dupage. i have a few questions regarding the entrance to this program:
1. out of how many applicants are actually accepted into this program
2. what do i need to study in order to take the HESI entrance exam
3. i signed up for anatomy and physiology 1551 for fall 2008, is there any additional classes i need to take in order to be accepted into the program? i know that your acceptance is related to the highest points possible you can receive.
4. what other information/facts/advice can you help me with?
thank you! i would really appreciate it if you would be able to help me.. im lost..

i applied and was wait listed
my college of dupage GPA at the time was a 3.73
overall it was lower around 3.3
but they have a specific amount of classes they want u to take and base ur gpa on those classes only
if you havent taken your prereqs yet, i would suggest going to kishwaukee community college by NIU, you will be waitlisted for a 1.5 but u are guaranteed in as long as you have a 2.5 gpa!
but its a tougher program then others, they require 80 percent pass rate on all their tests/projects/etc
and the clincials are very far, they are in rockford which is 70mins away from dekalb

hi
I found it relatively easy to get into COD. You should have most if not all of the prereqs done or don't bother applying. You need A & P 1 and general chemistry to apply but should have micro, life span psych, english 1, speech, a math course, nutrition, and a humanities course done. I applied with the psych and nutrition class done. Your GPA should be pretty good to get in. The HESI test (now called the REACH test) was incredibly easy. I didn't study at all for it. I think that there is a study guide availalbe in the library but I'm not sure.
As for the waitlist-COD accepts a little over 100 students per year. Last year after the students were accepted around 70 students on the waitlist were let in due to other students declining the program. This year there are 30 students so far that have been let in on the wait list. I have no idea how many people apply
Hope this helps!

Hi Renee,
Are you a first or second year student this fall? I am starting my first year in the program and have a few questions. I have micro to complete and I am wondering if it's better to take it now, in the spring or summer semester.
Thanks

Hi there,
I have a question. I am applying to the ADN program at College of DuPage in January 2010 for the fall semester. By the time I apply I will have taken A&P 1, Speech, English, math, and taking Chem 1105 and psych lifespan in the fall. I have a bachelor's degree which gives me an extra point. My question is I will be short A&P 2, Microbiology, nutrition, and the CNA class and certificate. I was only going to apply this year because I will get a point for trying to get in and waitlisted and not getting in this year. I was going to take the other 4 courses and try for 2011. I should have a 3.5 or so with the prereqs.
My question is: I have had a bunch of people including staff members that tell me that I have a shot at getting in this year and finishing up the 4 classes by fall 2010 (or at least most). I have taken the HESI test at another school and got a 92% but need to take the PAX test for this. Does anyone think that I have a shot or should just concentrate on the fact that I will probably not get in until 2011.
Also, I only got a B in English but I took it years ago. Would it be a good idea to take it over to try for an A to up my GPA or will they probably not count the B in English as much as the science courses??
If anyone can help me, it would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Lisa
