Good evening all! I hope I am posting this in the correct place. I am trying to do all I can to up my chances of landing the job that I want when I become an RN. I am taking the NAI class beginning in January. My intention was to get an NA job at Moses Cone in Greensboro, NC (which is where I ultimately want to end up as an RN). The only problem is, I know how difficult it can be to get a CNA job at a hospital with no experience.
I was thinking that my chances might be improved if I start volunteering up there. Maybe I will be able to do some networking and show my initiative to management while I am there, but I don't know if I will even get to meet the people I would need to talk to if I am volunteering.
Does anyone have any tips? Do you guys think this is a good idea?

i do think it's a good idea.
volunteering always looks good on a resume...
and, as a volunteer, you could always offer your help with nsg assistants when they're in the pt's room.
great way to establish relationships and reputation.
i say go for it.

Couldn't hurt. There is a lady on my unit that got her start as a volunteer. Most of the rest of us started in nursing homes and then transitioned to the hospital after we had some experience. There are only a couple that came straight from CNA class and they knew some of the nurses socially before working here.

I would volunteer for sure! That's what I did before I applied for a job at the hospital I volunteered at. (I got the job. No prior experience).
