Is the english exam IELTS / TOEFL required for the licensure exam in any state?
I was confused whether I should take the IELTS first before applying for registration / permission to be able to sit for the exam.
it's so difficult to get in touch with the board of nursing, it's always busy ='(
from the nm board website it says..
internationally educated nurses must demonstrate english competency. this can be demonstrated through successful completion of an approved english competency exam such as:
- test of english as a foreign language (toefl) or
- test of english for international communication (toeic) or
- test for english for the academic version of international english language testing system (ieltst) or
- successful completion of a nursing program that is given in english in another country or
- a passing score on a nursing examination which is given in english in another country or
- a certificate from the commission on graduates from foreign nursing schools or other agencies which indicates successful completion of toefl, toeic, or ielts.
question:
so if i graduated from the philippines, i don't have to take the english test? what kind of proof do i need to send along my application to say that english was the medium used @the school?? or does the bon already know that they speak english in the philippines??
another question:
if one is a us citizen, went to elementary, middle school, high school and some college units in california, including college english (principles of composition)... is the toefl still required??? for new mexico, or for any state that requires an english test.
thanks:)

your transcripts need to indicate that your training was done in english using english text books (as far as i am aware and what others have posted)
if one is a usc then you may find english is waivered however that will depend on the state
Hello. Please help me with this. A State BON requires CGFN-CES, my question is:
Should I start processing my application to that State (send payment, etc.) and then apply for CGFN-CES?
Or I should start with CGFN-CES application (so that the 1 year given by State BON to complete application won't commence yet) and after a few weeks start the State BON application?
Thank you very much,
Geraldine
Hi everyone
I have a question, Im an RN from PR( U.S Territory) and I applied for RN license in WI, but I worked as a CNA in WI for 5yrs, and in my application requirement doesn't mentioned anything about TOEFL test. Do you think that WI DRL will allow me to take the NCLEX RN without taking the TOEFL test? I will appreciate any help you can give me, thank you.
