Hi,
Do you guys reckon that 'E.R' the tv show is accurate from a nursing perspective? Does it underrepresent nurses? (is underrepresent actually a word? well you know what I mean lol) It does seem to glorify the doctors a bit...
Its not as bad as others
Greys Anatomy definitly does I think.
And predidio med! yeesh!
Whadya reckon?

Good news: the nurses go on strike on Grey's Anatomy next Sunday. I can't wait. Don't miss it. The portrayal should be amazing. LOL.
I am so dissapointed that I missed it. I will have to settle for the re-cap next Sunday. I missed my two favorite shows (both are on Sunday night) because I had to study anatomy until my brain turned off at 10:30. This class is cruel and unusual punishment.
ER--not accurate, but its also not reality. People ask me why I watch all those medical shows when they are clearly not accurate. Well if i wanted a reality tv show, I would watch one! I like that it is soap opera style, and that everyone is gorgeous, etc. It has a long way to go with the portrayal of nurses, but I will do my best to change that stereotype, and in the meantime drool over Luka every thursday night.
I happen to love ER. It does seem realistic, based on some of the characters I work with. I'm STILL upset that Mark Greene's character died off, and that Dr. Carter no longer works there. Maybe some melodrama, but many of the characters are familiar to me. I guess that archtypes never change!
I am so feeling that!! I wonder if he finally married the woman who miscarried his baby. He left to go to Africa. I do remember an article saying that his contract stated he must make about three or five guest appearances, but I can't remember the exact quote. Now, if they can just bring Mark Greene back from the grave...
Apparently, at least according to the trailers, Dr. Carter is coming back this thursday!!!! I don't know exactly what they meant, but at the end they showed scenes from next week, and at the end they said, "and.....the return of dr. carter!" Whoo-hoo, i can't wait!
How are we supposed to miss him if he won't go away?
Geez, he's been off the show for less than a year. And he's ALREADY coming back? I wonder if he wasn't getting tons of film roles thrown at him like maybe he was expecting. I like Noah Wyle a lot, but I think it's sad that he's already coming back to ER even for one episode.

The character I miss the most is Dr Romano! He was great comic relief! He was a jerk, sure, but he had the best comments and every now and then they would show that he did have a heart.

Yeah, I forgot about him...I liked him, also. He was one of the reasons why I identified with that show. We have several physicians that were just as rude and callous as his character was. Somewhere in there, he did have a heart, but was too proud to show it.
What did any of you think of 'Chicago Hope'?

To this day, when I hear that version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" I start to cry. I was at a Hawaiian luau a few months ago, and there were live musicians of course. They did an absolutely wonderful version of that song - we thought it was a CD or something until we walked by the man who was singing. I started to get all teary because, even in Maui, on my honeymoon, I was thrown back to that episode of ER. Now THAT'S some powerful television!!!
