What do you think? Thanks for the comments :)

i dont trust IT schools posing as medical schools.

What do you think? Thanks for the comments :)

Hello there!

If you're referring to the former de los santos college along e. rodriguez ave. (near st. luke's) quezon city, I understand that the school is what we could probably call a community college. I think that for more than 30 years now, it has been offering nursing and PT programs (and probably midwifery in the past). Beside the school is its tertiary hospital which has also been recently renamed as the De Los Santos - STI medical center.

Perhaps, the partnership/merger between the said school and STI a couple of years ago resulted to STI's infusion of capital to further improve the facilities of both the school and the hospital, and possibly better access to modern technology (such as computer laboratories and advanced hospital equipments).

I also gathered from sources that the school's administration of academic affairs is still handled by the same people who were already there prior to the partnership/merger. The school's academic affairs is not being run by IT professionals but by nurse educators and allied health professionals.

With due respect to the educated opinion stated here by the distinguished tom, I submit that the said school is not what you can call as an IT school posing as a medical/nursing school. It may be called simply as a nursing school in partnership with an IT provider institution.

I hope to have shared a more appropriate and factual comment/info on this subject.

DE LOS SANTOS nursing school is a good nursing school... maybe that's the reason why am here in the US doing GOOD!!! GOODLUCK... its in the student not the institution... STUDY HARd....

i dont trust IT schools posing as medical schools.

okay tommy... why did you say that? well just to clarify so we don't get misunderstood here :) thanks for the input but please rephrase it better next time :)

you're welcome. perhaps, your friends must be informed that just like other nursing schools with a big student population, de los santos college may also be experiencing problems in terms of enrollment procedure, hiring of competent and qualified instructors, clinical/hospital affiliations, improvement of facilities, etc...but just like other schools also, it is perhaps doing its best to provide quality education to its students and act to solve or remedy its concurrent problems. based on info i received, the college will use the sti building along quezon avenue (near roces and roosevelt avenues) this year as its quezon avenue campus which will offer healthcare profession courses. base hospital will likely be the school's medical center.

aside from de los santos college, there are also other schools in the area which your classmates can check on such as lanting college in tandang sora avenue, pwu q.c., capitol medical center college beside sto. domingo church, kester grant college in quezon avenue near EDSA, or perhaps they can also check on the schools around the U-belt area such as san beda college mendiola (heard lots of very good feedback about san beda), arellano university in legarda, perpetual help university near UST dapitan, etc...

your friends should also be made aware that when time comes that they will apply for licensure abroad, they should be prepared to be able to submit certified copies of the academic records/transcripts from ALL schools attended whether for nursing or not. this can be required for credentials evaluation upon the discretion of the appropriate institution/body such as the cgfns or the licensing body.

i hope this helps. :penguin:

no. thats from first-hand experience. the teaching staff and the admin are incompetent and inefficient. i transferred out as soon as i could

Sorry if I judge other schools but I know others may agree on what I have to say. When you enroll on a IT school, they specialized on this field and other courses are just added ingredients. Now, if they open nursing, ask yourself what this IT school knows about nursing. Look at their board rating and ask other students' opinion that had gone there... At least you can assess what your getting yourself into...

DLS-STI is a good school. i graduated from that college. i am not biased but im also aware that there are other schools that are better like the cream of the crop which for me is UST, but it is an average school that caters and is usually favored by second coursers like me. DLS-STI may not churn out the ones at the top 10 of board exams, but is sure provides its students with a well rounded education reinforced with practicality thriftiness and forethought. Ask any student from there ......they'll tell you the same thing! GO DELO!

DLS-STI would mean delos santos-STI. You see it's only a partnership of the school and STI college which is known for IT. I don't think that STI affects the academics for the Nursing course. Delos Santos was built even before STI had a partnership with them.

remember the STI advertisement about their nursing school? I'll commend anyone who can show me error(s) committed on that ad.
