Is there better that the VA System???

Published

Hello all, this is my first ever post. I have been nursing for a total of 6 years now, five of those years have been within the VA system. I am in my late 40s, pay and benefits are a large factor in my life. The VA provides financial security because of a guaranteed yearly salary. Full-time employees are never called off or sent home. The accumulation of 4 hours of sick leave in addition to 8 hours of AL or vacation time is amazing. My dilemma is that I have been at my unit in the VA I work for two years. I was really hesitant at the beginning, not because of patients or workload, but the utter lack of respect that my coworkers had for anyone. I mean anyone including colleagues, management, doctors, and even most of the patients. After two years it has taken its toll. Uphill a battle in a place where I finally came to the realization I do not belong. Which is heartbreaking because I love my patients.

Are there other hospital systems out in the Dallas area that can compare with the consistent pay and benefits of the VA? If so please comment or message me.

Thank you in advance.

go to another dept in your VA or another VA in another city.  they cant all be like that.
