Is Banner Health hiring ADN new grads?

Published

So I heard though the grapevine that Banner is no longer hiring ADN new grads. I wanted to see if my fellow peeps out there heard anything. I wanted to get a PCT jobs with Banner in hopes of getting hired on once I've completed my RN. But if Banner is no longer hiring ADN new grads then that will change my course of action.

Thanks

Thanks for all the responses. This helps to change the game plan for Arizona for sure and points me in the direction of other markets to apply after i graduate. I feel that ADN programs should be converted to BSN programs if a major employer for the valley is not willing to hire ADN's. I guess I'll be looking for jobs in New Mexico and Texas. Has anyone heard if its easier in those markets?

I had a choice - I could continue on with Blocks 3 & 4 in an ADN program at Gateway CC or just take an LPN bridge (I already successfully passed Blocks 1 & 2) and go the LPN to BSN route. But I figured why go for an ADN if a lot of employers here in Phoenix (including the one I currently work for) won't hire new grad ADNs?? I don't know if they realize it, but the community colleges around here in Phoenix offering ADN programs just saw their educational product take a big hit.

I just got invited to a Banner Interview for their New Grad program. Has anyone interviewed with them and would care to share their experience? Thanks!!

Does it matter to them where the BSN comes from - do they prefer traditional school over online programs ?

I know several ADN nurses that currently work for Banner who cannot transfer to a speciality area because they do not have their BSN. I wonder if the unspoken message to them is to get their BSN or stay in their department forever.

Also I know a couple of nurses who went to outlying areas in TX and NM to get a job because they could not find any here after graduation. It seems to be about who you know here and even then they want you to at least be in school for your BSN.

I work at Banner Good Sam and the nurses I know and work with who are taking BSN courses, many of them are doing it online with places like Western Governors University. The impression I get is that they don't really care as long as it's a BSN from a legit and accredited program.

AZ_RN2B - do you like working at Banner Good Sam? I'm interviewing with Banner on Monday. Just wondering if you have any input about working there and what your interview was like. Thanks!

Your hunch is right on. I personally do not think they are hiring ADN nurses unless they are forced to because of a lack of BSN applicants. Right now these is no nursing shortage. I have worked for banner for three years. I do believe your hunch is correct.

Yes you are correct. The community colleges and other schools offering ADN in AZ are ripping the students off. These students need to be getting BSN. Please get your BSN don't waste time on an associate degree. I am an associate degree nurse and i know.

I have a friend that is a new grad BSN that has an interview next week. The hospital is in Page, AZ. She has not ever been called by a Phoenix area Banner.

I don't know the hiring status of any Banner hospitals for nurses with ADNs.
